Hi there, I'm new to this site, but wanted to share some Alan moments with you. Last year I took my daughter, who is slightly disabled, to the POA premiere in London. She is a great HP fan. We had a special position next to the press, with no barriers. We met all the stars and she got 19 autographs. All but Alan, who kept to the other side and did not come over. I filmed the whole thing on my camcorder, including Alan signing books, he was about 12ft from me. I am transfering the film to dvd and hope to put it on ebay soon so other people worldwide can share in this magic day. It was the first time I had seen Alan live, I was shaking all over. He moved very majestically and did not speak much, but looked wonderful. Later that week I got some brilliant news, my niece had moved to London, she was in an area that I suspected Alan lived, so told her to look out. Sure enough, within days she reported back that not only had she seen Alan several times, out jogging, at the local grocery store and walking up the road, but he lived right opposite her! Amazing! I was so jealous! So, with his address in my hands, I wrote to him about how disappointed we were not being able to get his autograph at the premiere, and could my daughter have one. I did not expect to hear anything. Within 3 days a letter plopped onto my mat, I reconised the hand written envelope right away, (he does his "s" in a special way) I carefully undid it and inside was a large photo of Alan with "To Angelina, with best wishes from Alan rickman" She was thrilled. The photo had his fingerprints all over it. I kept the envelope and wrapped it in plastic! My address in HIS handwriting! How brilliant is that! I am going to the interview where Alan talks to Andrew marr on the 25th Oct, have asked him if I could talk to him after, so far have no reply, we live in hope!

Welcome to the Alan Rickman Appreciation Society Ambereyes. Your daughter lives across the street? I didn't think it was possible, but I think you just made the entire Rickman Society jeolous all at once ;D! Feel free, and please do, visit the 'I was thinking of Alan today' thread (in The Man), because you must have many stories to share. Once again, Welcome! Edit: Oh - you're Niece lives across from Alan. Sorry, I read too quickly ;D!

;D It's my niece actually, not my daughter. I spent the night at her house once and could not sleep until 4am knowing alan was asleep yards from me. really weird feeling. I did not see him while I was up there though.

I'm on another picture mission folks and wondered if anyone can help.
Does anyone have or know where I can download a larger version of this pic? I may be needed to blow it up to A4 size and don't want it to print out all pixelated if poss, which I think would happen with this one.

Thanks for trying guys! I have some reserve ideas for a banner to take to the GOF prem and one featured that pic. My friend is working on something but time's running out and I wanted to have a back up ready for a last minute print (I have some of that printable tshirt transfer paper. I was all for making "RICKMAN ROCKS!!" ;D tshirts but she wasn't up for it, that surely would have got us noticed )

THANKS Ambereyes for the tale about being able to see Alan and about the photo for your daughter. That was SO very nice of him to do that given the direct contact and all that. Lots of actors freak out if they think their privacy is being invaded. Then again, British actors seem very different. I've been a big fan of Dr. Who for 2 decades and have seen nearly every episode made (thanks to my husband who collected them all). We have met nearly all the actors playing the Doctor plus lots of the companions. And I have to say that, without exception, they were not just charming, and funny, and entertaining but they really catered to the crowds FAR FAR more than American actors at the conventions did in general (there were a few exceptions). I could see the American actors protecting their privacy at home but we were at Science Fiction conventions where they were the guests. I wasn't ticked off of course because people are individuals and some American actors were quite pleasant and accomodating. But my husband and I often remarked about how different the British actors were with their fans. More genuinely friendly, more easy-going/joking, and just all around more pleasant. I agree though that seeing AR just up and about on daily routines would have been fun. And while I could sleep knowing he was living across the street, I can assure you all that I'd be looking out that front window a lot. I'm a bit star-struck however, and probably wouldn't have the guts to say hello.

Angelina is twelve...going on 30! lol She is extremley like Alan in looks as well as personality. Then again she is born on Feb 24th, so only days apart. I have Alan's photo on my keyring, and one day I was at the supermarket checkout with Angelina. I had laid my keys on the side as I packed the shopping. An elderly lady was looking at the keyring next to me and then looking at Angelina. Finally she said "isn't she like her father, there's no mistaking who her dad is" I was too dumbstruck to answer and just smiled as she walked off. The very thought of it had me smiling for days. Angelina quite liked the idea! In case you have not read my report on seeing Alan on Tuesday night, it's on the appreciation thread.

I know what you mean Ringo. Except that I couldn't be an adult about it. If I met him face and face, I'd probably turn into a drooling blithering idiot not able to string 2 words together (provided I was able to get any words out at all). I'm not at all shy with regular folks but with an actor I truly admire I'm worse than shy.

Probably got you blushing and daydreaming all in a single second. Angelina is only a year younger than my younger daughter. And it also means your daughter is more than old enough to have 'obsessions' like mommy, and to understand them...LOL!!!
