Yes, Let's get all excited about this movie!!! I got to see it at a midnight premiere this morning in our area and it was all that it was played up to be. It was visually spectacular. Tim Burton out did himself with the effects and presentation of this picture by far. The ensemble cast was wonderful and they pulled you right into the movie and their world. Put this one on your list as a must see.

Thanks for the review Maria, I think you have an ARAS scoop there, the first person to see it! What was the singing like? And of course how was Alan? Any memorable bits (without too many spoilers!)?

Sorry I just picked up your message. Hope you have seen the movie by now, I have seen it twice and will be going for three on Sunday. Would like to tell you lots but don't want to spoil it if you haven't seen it. Amazing how you can find vunerability in such a nasty character as Judge Turpin but AR can allow you to see it. Isn't for the squimish I will tell you now. Let me know what you think after you see it. Great dark humor in it. Found myself laughing more than once despite myself. Hope you enjoy!

The public can buy tickets for the Sweeney Todd UK premiere- after party tix are sold out, but tickets for the stalls are still available. The event is in aid of the Great Ormond Street Hospital. www.gosh.org/news/2007/sweeney_todd.htmlIf I was a girl who liked a bet, I'd say there's a good chance Alan might be at this one (but I'm making it completely up!)

Wow this movie came out alot later in England than it did in the US.
Hi everyone I'm new to this forum but not new to Alan fanatacism. I am new to forums though as the last time I had axcess to a computer the only thing to be found like this was a message board. I started with Peter Gabriel, then sighned up with David Tennant and now I'm here too, but it won't be my last.
So Sweeney Todd is AWSOME I plan to see it at least 2 more times and will buy the soundtrack (it cracks me up). Mr. Rickman was brilliant as usual. Don't think I've ever heard him sing till now. Does anyone know if he's sung in any other movies? Plays don't count for me I haven't had the pleasure of seeing him on stage yet. But I'm hopefull.....

He sang some in Madly, Truly, Deeply. You could tell they were trying to keep it sounding like people who couldn't sing but every once in a while you could tell that he could sing and was trying hard not to. If you get a chance to listen to books on tape try Thomas Hardy's, Return of the Native. Mr. Rickman reads it and he does several characters and several of the character sing short songs. It is actually a very good listen. I think other than theater stuff that is about all there is. Hope someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Alan sings in Rasputin, although it's very short. I loved his singing in TMD. I downloaded that scene to my desktop so I can listen whenever I want.
He also sings in Help, I'm a Fish. I think that was renamed to A Shark's Tale for the Region 1 DVD.

Will have to throw Rasputin and Shark's Tale in when I get home tonight. Suppose to be getting snow tonight so sounds like a good night to settle in with some good movies. I have the Bottle Shock trailer downloaded to my desk top, love it, it really is a great trailer should check it out if you haven't already!

Saw Sweeney Todd at the weekend ;D I really enjoyed it, not so sure about Alan's singing but it's a good movie when I closed my eyes during the gore

Err.... am I the only one who didn't like this movie? Don't get me wrong - Alan was fantastic in this - very slimy and wonderful - but the movie itself just didn't hit the right 'note' with me (please forgive the pun!). I think I'm the only Alan fan in the world who didn't like it, though.

I'm sure you're not, billywiggy, I don't think I will ever watch the movie again, as much as I loved Alan's performance, the other gore just puts me off. Maybe i could make an edited version of just Alan's scenes (minus his last one!)

Glad I'm not alone! The gore and just the darkness of it ... I guess I was expecting more dark humor and less just plain darkness. Not my cup of tea, really. It was nice to see Alan playing the 'bad guy' again, though . . . hasn't he said he was tired of 'bad guy' roles? I wonder what drew him to play this character?
