Ladyrna, when did JKR say that Snape didn't have a sister? I know she's said he was not Luna's dad... I thought I read it on one of the sites with a FAQ/Q&A type set up. From reading the books, I kinda got the impression he was an only child (with all that loneliness as well as the emotional abuse...had he had a sibling some of that lonliness would have been alleviated...and so I sense no sibling at all). Don't get me wrong, I'm am NOT implying that only kids are abused, if anything they are loved to pieces like any other kid, but it seems to me that had there been a sibling to share his pain with, he might have not been such a forlorn figure. This of course, doesn't mean his father hadn't been married before, so there could be half-siblings out there. But that's a way-out-there speculation fit only for fanfic unless JKR were to reveal such a thing and I highly doubt it will happen.

Ok, revive this thread a little. I am in need of help here. Over on CoS, in the Dev of Sev thread, there is much discussion on the little "flashback" scene from this movie (you know, the one where it shows Voldy going to the Potters' house to kill them and Harry). Right where Lily is shown holding Harry at the door, a figure is seen turning towards the camera. You see his left hand holding a wand. Who is it? Lily is screaming something that looks like "James!" (but not sure). Many are convinced that it is Snape, and that's Alan in that scene.
Help me! I need y'all to examine it with the Rickmaniac's Eye of Truth and help me determine if it IS Alan or not.

I took this movie with me on my trip this weekend and looked at this scene. I tried to take in the whole scene, and I rewound it a few times to watch it over again. I noticed that the person who was in the room first (and I do believe there may have been two people in black cloaks), with Lily and the baby, when she shouted those words "James" (Or whatever she shouted), did not have gloves on. The person who performed the Avada Kavara (Voldemort most likely), did have gloves on. You can see the first person's left hand as he is turning into the camera. You may already know this, and it may have already been discussed...so I'm sorry if I am just repeating. I don't keep up on the Dev. of Snape thread...unfortunately ! Anyway...that is what I noticed. I can't tell if it is Alan or not, but I am willing to bet that he (Snape) was there. I hope that was helpful...if not...well...sorry for adding to the confusion !

I think Snape might have been there. The scene in the movie is kinda suspicious when you analyse it. One thing that stands out from HBP is that Bella asks Snape where he was when the Dark Lord fell. I think this is very curious. From Snape's answer, I have to presume that if Snape was there Voldemort didn't know. So IF Snape was there, Does that mean he left Lily to face Voldemort alone? I hate the thought of that!
