The Alan Rickman 60th Birthday Chat Room! PLEASE READ ALL OF THE BELOW STUFF!
The Link
Go to the Chat Room by clicking right here!!
This is the link to take you to the chat room. You will need Java Script enabled on your computer to run the chat facility. When you click on the above link, you will be taken to a page to enter your name (please use your username from this forum as it will be easier to recognise each person when we are 'chatting'). You also have the option to enter a brief profile of yourself, for example, I shall be herewith known as chat-room co-ordinator supremeo ;D
Once you enter these details, please click on "chat". Please be patient whilst it initialises the chat window, which should pop up (those with pop up blockers may want to disable that too). You are now in the chat room! Yey!
The chat room should be blue. Your name appears at the right of the screen, along with the names of anyone else who is also in the room too. To join/start a conversation, please type in the paler blue box towards the bottom and hit return when you have finished typing. Your message then appears in the conversation! And hey presto! We have our very own chat!
THE TIMES
Whilst the chat room is technically open 24 hours a day from now until Monday 27th February, these are the specified times where I hope we can all try and meet together over the week. Please see the Bday Chat time zone poll (in The Man section) to see how many hours you are ahead/behind from GMT.
TUE 21ST FEB: 6pm GMT (onwards)
WED 22ND FEB: 9pm GMT
THU 23RD FEB: 10pm GMT
FRI 24TH FEB: 6pm GMT
SAT 25TH FEB: 10am GMT, 3pm GMT, 7pm GMT, 10pm GMT
SUN 26TH FEB: 10am GMT, 3pm GMT, 7pm GMT, 10pm GMT
MON 27TH FEB: 6pm GMT
THE CHAT ROOM MODERATORS
As well as administrator EmmyMik, myself and Ringo your regular moderators, winky22 and giggin have kindly volunteered to help out in the chat room. This is simply keep our conversation on track and keep an eye over the place, just the same as myself, Ringo and EmmyMik do with the boards. If we think that we need to step in at any point, we shall type [IN BLOCK CAPITALS LIKE THIS] and say what we need to say.
THE RULES
Very simple:
1) Please respect Alan's privacy as we do on the boards. I'm sure you'll agree that we only want to appreciate our love of teh man and his work, especially around this momentus time when he's celebrating his 60th birthday! Whoohoo!
2) Please respect our fab team of volunteer mods. If a mod types [STOP TYPING FOLKIES!]then please do. It might just be to get your attention or redirect the chat if we've gone way off topic, say, to chatting about boiled rice, which isn't half as interesting as our Al
3) Please stick to using your username, then we all know who we're talking to! Could avoid any embarrassing moments!
4) Have fun but take care. Just like the boards, please don't give out any personal details on the chat room and we'll all have a safe, fab and fun time
I think that's my rant over!
I hope that if you have any questions or technical difficulties they can be ironed out before Tuesday. Feel free to try the link and logging into the chat room for a test.
Please let me know in this thread what you think of the chat room (yes I know its incredibly naff but its free!). And any techno probs just let me know here too, or PM me.
Your friendly chat room co-ordinator supremeo ;D
