I saw this movie maybe a year back or so. I didn't like any of the acting, except that of Rickman's. LOL. Only good actor in that movie, IMO.

I'm not a western movie person. If it wasn't for Alan, I most likely would have not seen Quigley Down Under.
BTW, the mustache was very amusing. *smirk*

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of westerns or this movie. But, that's what the fast forward button is for... :-)

Oh no - you all have me worried now! I just rented this for watching over the weekend, as I haven't seen it yet (also got Dogma, but I know that's good - I've seen it!) . . . is it really that bad? Well, if it has Alan in it - it'll be OK . . . although I don't really like him in moustaches. Sigh . . . I'll come back later and let you all know what I thought.

Same here, if it wasn't for Alan, I wouldn't have watched!

Yeah, OK - just watched this one tonight . . . I almost didn't - it started off sooo lame! But you know, it wasn't all that bad afterall (maybe my expectations were so abysmally low that it couldn't help but amuse!) I'd never recommend it (or watch it again, for that matter!), though . . . But I must say, Alan is deliciously sexy in it. "No man throws me out of my own house!" Ah, that was great! He really makes the villains sooo good, doesn't he?

I'm not into westerns, either. I didn't really think this movie was bad; I thought it was pretty good, all things considered. I just thought Quigley himself was really unrealistic. It's hard to believe he'd be so perfect. Alan was great, though.

I wish I lived on Marston's ranch... I don't think it's that bad of a movie, it's just really slow and boring (to me) in the middle. Didn't much care for the whole character of Crazy Cora. Loved Alan crashing through the window. Alan's villains are so, um, good (in a wonderful bad way).

Alan in boots with spikes and a cowboy hat . And don't forget the goatee ;D! I agree with everyone here, the movie moves quite slowly. For someone with a short attention span like myself, it is a hard movie to sit through. It helps to have Alan Rickman pop in now and then, to grab my attention and wake me up.

I admit it, I liked the moustache. Always did think they looked sexy (depending on the man wearing it of course). I confess to liking Tom Selleck from his Magnum days so didn't mind the western theme quite so much because he was in it. But like some of you, I noted AR in his boots and the black pants, black coat theme. Looking good as always. I enjoyed the scene where he gets tossed out of his own house, and the show-down near the end. And I agree, wouldn't have minded living on that ranch!!!

Watching this movie for the second time, coughing and sneezing into a tissue, in bed wrapped in a warm blanket, I really enjoyed it! Alan is so funny. Every line he had...I was in stitches, or maybe I was simply delirious (sp). So Quigley Down Under started my Alanathon in hopes that it will help me recover. This morning I watched Harry potter 1, but I fell asleep after the troll incident ooops! That's o.k. though, I've only seen it a trillion times ! Recovery update: fever is gone!

Glad to hear you are feeling better!!!! I think I'll try that Alan Cure next time I run a fever...although the last one (from the flu presumably) was 103.8 (I spent a day in the hospital with IV antibiotics for that one...AFTER driving myself 30 minutes to get there!). So I'm gonna hope that if I get a cold this winter, it'll be without a fever and I can enjoy laying in bed at home with my AR movies.
