It was. With taxes and shipping, it was over thirty dollars.... but it was worth it!!! I loved this film (watched it twice already and I just got it Tuesday). I laughed, I cried and I swooned over Alan. Very beautiful film and very well acted. There were so many great moments, like Alan crying his eyes out (that gets me every time) and Linda asking if there is something wrong with the tea. Then there was the Scrabble game.

Now available for pre-order on Amazon. But, they list only the actors playing the secondary characters and not Alan or Sigourney. Strange.
Anyway, it's $14.99 U.S.

I'm glad they are taking pre-orders, because there is no way they are going to have enough in stock for everyone who wants one. This way, at least they know how many to order, and then they can order extra to have in stock ! Smart move Amazon! A karma point to you Des, for keeping your eyes open for us.

You're welcome. We've all waited sooooo long for this. And see my review on Amazon. Hope I've encouraged other people to order the movie since it didn't show in too many theaters.

At the risk of repeating myself.....I saw Snow Cake this week at our local cinema. What an awesome movie. I want an Alex!!! The theatre was about half full I guess and there was applause at the end of the movie. Bought the tears back all over again.......

If you ordered Snow Cake from Amazon and haven't checked your e-mail lately, you need to do that. They've changed the ship date slightly, but if you don't approve it by 9/7, they'll cancel your order.
Just a heads up ....

Hi there, I'm new to this site so be patient with me. I have now watched 'Snowcake' everyday since the postman dropped it onto my mat a week ago and each time I see something new that I overlooked previously. I have been a 'fan' of Alan Rickman for many years and though I do enjoy his performances in the Harry Potters movies I would still prefer to see him once more on stage. Roxanna

Got it this afternoon and this is the first opportunity I had to watch it. Nearly ran out of hankies.
The crash gets me every time. I get chills when Alan staggers out of the car and you can see the shock on his face and feel his nearly uncontrollable pain (which is even more compelling when you've seen the movie and know why).
The scene that gets me the most is after the funeral when Linda is dancing and she sees Vivienne. It's Linda's way of saying goodbye.
Some of the deleted scenes are very good, too ... step away from the snowmen in particular.
What a wonderful movie. I can't belive they couldn't find a disgtributor.

I felt a great sense of his loss when it was explained how he lost the son he know nothing of....and who he never had the chance to meet....so sad. But the scene where he tries to pay for his 'night of passion' I found so endearing, and that no offense was taken by Maggie who was highly amused by the episode. Such a good feel movie, full of hope and redemption. Roxanna

Endearing is the right word for that scene. Says a lot about Maggie. But even more is the end when she runs through Linda's house, grabs the trash and throws it in the truck. That little wave to Linda says ... you might try to keep me out, but it won't work. After Alex, selfish and self-centered doesn't work for her anymore. Yeah (sigh).

I think I have enjoyed this movie most because he seems so natural........ I know, it's called 'acting'.......he just does it so well.
