Oh, you're more than welcome - I must spread the Alan love! ;D Here's a lovely screencap (courtesy of trekkiegrrrl from lj): Here's my SLIGHTLY SPOILERY[/color] review: So, I popped the movie in and was . . . disappointed. It starts off quite tedious and reminiscent of a few Woody Allen movies (apologies to any Allen fans) in the sort of 'omg nothings going right, why must everything be so horrible in my life' kind of way. Irritating, basically. And then . . . about half way through . . . Alan starts to make a bigger appearance. The difference was amazing. Night and day. I found myself laughing out loud and rewinding to re-watch certain scenes. Was this the same movie? His physicality is amazing - such comic timing! This is why I love Alan. His ability to save an absolutely mediocre film and make me glad I bought it (I'd begun to have serious regrets). Truly, without Alan, this movie would have been an absolute stinker. I normally love Janeane Garofalo, but she has almost nothing to do in this picture. What a waste, really. The scene at the water-cooler alone has me giggling just as I think about it again - and the one with the overhead projector! ;D Sigh. I love Alan Rickman, I simply do. He is amazing in this film - he really impressed me.

I loved this film... Alan was so funny, great comedic timing. Here are my favorite pics: I so want to be her... to kiss Alan *swoons* Here'e that watercooler scene. I have a pic with him in front of the chair... let me know if you want me to post it.

Billywiggy and WillowSnape ... yes, that water cooler scene was hilarious and even more so when you realize why he's gulping down all that water. And the ice cube scene, and too many to mention.
The beginning of the movie was a copy of The Out-of-Towners interspersed with tantalizing glimpses of Alan ... how I love him in those glasses.
Yes, BW, I agree. Alan once again saved a mediocre movie. And I think that's why it was never released to the theaters. He just outshines the "stars" every time. Sort of like when what's-his-name tried to cut Alan's Sheriff of Nottingham scenes. Just didn't work without him.
Be sure to watch the credits ... some more wonderful Alan moments. And watch the deleted scenes (the one in the pub) and outtakes and Behind the Scenes. And the photo gallery has some great shots, too.
I think this may end up one of my fave Alan roles.
ETA: And speaking of Garafolo, I just saw she's joining the cast of 24 (which won't be back until 2008). The bad news is she's gone platinum blonde (or maybe it's gray), short and straight. Whatever the hairstyle, she looks AWFUL.

I must get this movie for my Alan Collection, trouble is the postage to the UK is $25, and I will need region 2 or multi region.

Roxanna I know, the shipping is killer, even to the U.S. Seeing the previews, though, I knew I had to have it. Alan's at his comic/bad guy best. But you'll be happy to know, this is a multi-region DVD. It plays anywhere. All I can say is ... start saving your pennies or ask for it for your birthday or Christmas.

I got my copy a few days ago, and still have not found time to watch it. Make sure you have enough time to watch it all the way through at one sitting. You'll miss too many little things if you don't.

I can't quit watching this one. I wasn't too terribly choked up about it the first time I watched it but each time I watch it I enjoy it more and more. Watched it with a friend who is in sales and marketing and he said it was close to dead on. Love watching Mr. Rickman in comedy mode he is great. Show why he is the great actor he is. Seems to be pretty much comfortable in any role he lands in. My favorite scene is where he meets the little misses.

Has anyone ever found out why this movie was never released in theaters?

It was a small production company. John Binder who played the lead was also the producer. It just didn't grab any distributors attention I guess. In fact when I ordered my copy you could only get it through Binder's distribution site or through someone who was trying to sell their copy on Ebay. I really enjoy it especially since I work in an office environment. Reminds me........ I really need to take it out and watch it again. I was afraid that both Nobel Son and Bottle Shock were going to go the same way....... Really makes me mad that Mr. Rickman doesn't get the attention or respect that he deserves.

I woundn't say that this is one of his best movies, but it is nice just to sit down and watch it. Although he had a lot of great moments in it.

Found myself using a line from this movie the other day. If you get to see it, it is the scene in the phone booth when he is talking to his mother. They are discussing the definition of two words. I leave it and that and let ya'll find it.
