What I love the pictures being posted, and really appreciate the time spent on each one. Thank you to those who are sharing them. For me...what takes up tons of space actually, is when someone replys with a quote with the pictures, so the pictures are posted twice . It takes twice as long for the thread to open. My computer gets migraines when that happens ! LOL! Cool thread Emmymik ;D!

What Aw, nuts. I was going for mean. ;D Yeah, that seems like a problem as well. Right now I want to see what happens with the pic limit. I don't want to introduce a berjillion confusing rules because *I* get migranes. Quoting with pics is a tricky grey area. If you're talking about some pics from a page and a half back, then I can see quoting. But if you're talking about the post right above yours, then quoting seems kind of redundant (and in this case, I mean "quoting" the pictures). We'll see what happens. Perhaps y'all can come up with some sort of Unspoken Forum Courtesy in regards to quoting (not quite a rule, but a courtesy). Anyway, I'd love to hear more feedback...

I have high speed and I agree with the quoting of the pictures. Even though mine doesnt take that long to pull the photos up, if I have just seen them one or two posts up, there no sense in seeing them again. Also, a suggestion, and I'm not sure if it would work or not. What about going to a certain page number, like page 35, and then starting another thread? This way, it starts back fresh and the photos on the previous thread can go into an archive or something. I'm not sure if it is possible or if it is something that would cost extra money, but it was just a thought. I've also noticed that some of the pictures are being posted more than once. If the thread was smaller, it might be easier to go back and look to see if they have been posted previously. Again, just a thought. No one get angry with me please ;D I enjoy checking out photos as much as anyone. Heck, I post a lot of them too, so I know I cant say much, lol.

Great suggestions, irishemerald.
I was just thinking about when I should start a new pictures thread. I might do it soon. Or not. We shall see.
(as you can tell, I'm totally making this up as I go along)
I also have seen a few repeated pictures. I can understand repeats if there are quite a few pages in between posts. But if it's more recent, I think that's when the quote button is appropriate.
What do y'all think?

Perhaps, the pics could be catagorized, like Irishemerald said in chat. For example; everyday pics, on set pics, awards pics, etc., without captioning them. If someone wants to post a pic and wants info known about it, then put the info in when they name the picture file before they post it and when someone saves it, violla, they have the info.
And please, lets stop the quotes. I am in complete agreement with Giggin, it is getting redundant.
Thanks for listening!

I think it's a good idea you've taken the time to come up with the rules for the picture section. I for one am starting to have a slow computer and therefore I don't think having people have pictures in every post is going to happen for me. (Yes, I think Alan's one of the best men alive. Do I want to see him in just about every post? Not really...)
Also, if someone's going to quote--link the picture. Don't have the same picture in about three or four different posts.

I agree with the rules. Especially when it comes to quoting with pictures in it and posting large wallpapers.

I agree with the limited the number of pics per post, and trying not to quote the actual pic in your reply would be a big help too. EmmyMik Could we utilise the PhotoBucket Account to put some pictures in that which are posted on the threads, moving them from the thread to our very own 'archive'? We can have separate folders for different types, e.g. different movies, premieres, photo shoots etc... Just sticking my oar in too

I especially like the idea of putting some of the pics in the photobucket account - that way, we can still have access to them if we have to close a long thread.

I don't think you're mean Emmymik. Everything needs rules and forums are no exception, I have high speed and even then it does take a long time so I think three pics per post is great, but er? is there a minium size of these pics?

A very sensible idea to limit quantity of pics, O Fearless Leader ;D Also, I like the clickable thumbnails that photobucket has, and it'd be a nice idea to upload them to the ARAS photobucket account

This is in regards to the Fan Art section. Every time I browse there, it takes a long time to open and I think perhaps the same rules should apply there as well; a three pic limit, no quotes, and please resize the pics. Is this a good idea?

I second that notion! It is a "picture thread", in a way, afterall ;D! I love the fan art and the pictures...and I want to be able to open them before my computer crashes ! I always end up having to close the window before the thread loads because it freezes, and I never end up seeing what has been posted , so I miss out on the great fan art ! *cry...sob* Okay..I'm done ;D!

Good idea.
The three pics per post rule (and the rest of this stuff) goes for all threads (right now, I'm just focusing on the pic thread).

Nope. Not mean at all. It's fairly realistic and sensible. Though your life might be less complicated if you use probards restricted image size code. Which in a nutshell will automatically resize big images for you down to a pre-set size. Best image size on these boards is no bigger than 500x500 ppi (pixels per square inch) Though if you guys like to post more I'd suggest shrinking it down to 250x250 ppi. I have it on my sites and it saves A LOT of down load time without the hassle of having to keep answering the same questions about image size restrictions. You can find the code by clicking HERE. Also since this code shrinks down the images it's a good idea to post images in an image link using the following code:
[url=LINK TO IMAGE][img]LINK TO IMAGE[/img][/url]
Anyways, have a nice day and good luck. Peeves
