**hands sevvy_sinclaire a box of tissues**
When I first saw this movie I *sobbed* like crazy (and I'm not one for crying at movies). I eventually had to curl up with a big, ugly, plus fish and watch something happy (I have since named the fish Jamiefish, and Jamiefish and I like to curl up and watch movies together)...

I have just this very moment finised watching this film. It was very tearful but to me it was missing alot. There wasn't enough in it, i'm still thinking "well what did happen" was he just her imagination or was he really there? She could live without him when he wasn't there but when he came back she found someone else! It just confused me.
Believe me i know she had no future with a man who was neither there or here but she never told him to go but he left her. Now i know that was for her own good she could never move on with him around.
Overall i'm still not sure of the film, it made me cry so it was decent enough to do that i'd give it a 7/10. Suberb acting by mr Rickman but did mushtache (sp?) Not keen on facial hair at all to tell you the truth.

I love this film, but Juliet Stevenson constant crying got on my nerves a bit, but, other than that,it was a cool film, and I love the fact that Alan/Jaime blamed the government, who at the time of the film being made, was the hated Conservatives, the ones that Alan does not care to like....

The crying did get on my nerves a bit. Though, I think it was needed to make the ending have such an emotional impact.
I think the thing that annoyed me the most was how in the beginning of the movie all of these men were carrying on about how beautiful Nina was. I really don't care, get to the Alan! (and the moustache that took over Cleveland)

I watched this for the first time recently. My favorite part of Truly, Madly, Deeply is after Jamie and Nina are saying "I love you truly, madly, deeply, etc., etc." and Jamie forgot "deeply", and he has to play while she dances. So he's got his cello across his lap like a guitar and is plucking it and singing while she hops about the flat, and then they both sing and plunk at the piano.

The crying got on my nerves a little bit. Actingangie, that is one of my scenes in the movies. I took the movie to my grandma's and she liked it. The first time I saw it, I cryed, a lot. I still cry when I see it.

(and the moustache that took over Cleveland) I agree with you. The crying did get on my nerves. I was definatly getting a bit annoyed by the absence of Mr Rickman while they all commented on how beautiful Nina was. I just wanted to see Alan, i did want to shave his mushtache (sp?) off though.

I was bought this film as a present and I watched it and I came out of the room in anguish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't mind telling you.
Everytime I feel like I need to cry I put this film on and that does it. Personally I watch a film for THE FILM the scene that the men are carrying on how beautiful Nina is I find quite sweet and funny, (I wish I had a bunch of men telling me how beautiful I am!) but Alan Rickman does make the film more enjoyable.
I am not keen on facial hair either but then the role I fell in love with Alan with in the first place was RH. POT and he had a beard and moustache in that so I mustn't mind it that bad!
"I'm just warming up my lips!" can I help?

I Truly Madly Deeply love this film. At first I did not care for the crying and thought it was too much until I knew she was crying about Alan, and then I didn't think she was crying enough . I actually couldn't have been able to cry like that on demand, so Kudos to Juliet! I thought she did a fabulous job! One of my favorite parts is when Alan and Juliet are on the floor after they had an argument about the carpet and the rearranging of the flat (apartment), and they sent the 'other ghosts' away, and he asks her, "do you want me to go" and she quickly says "no" and hugs him. Oh man, I cried my eyeballs out! I think I am going to cry now just thinking about it! O.k. pull yourself together giggin. Don't worry, I'm o.k.! I really love this film! Just so you know!

I love that moment too, giggin_arfan. And I think that's why the crying at the beginning was needed. The film shows Nina's journey from *needing* Jamie to her ability to let go and move on with her life.
And it shows that I do not have a cold, black heart after all (as I never cry at stuff, yet this movie turns me into a sobbing mess)...

I watched this one after watching S&S last night. I don't know why I put it in. I knew I was going to cry thoroughout the movie. What was I thinking? Well...I made it through and...my favorite spot once again got me so bad. Alan does such a great job there. He does a quiver lip just before it and I just lost it. He is so good! How does he do it? If you have the movie..you need to fast forward to that part and watch for the quiver lip just before he asks "do you want me to go?" You know the part when they are on the floor? The one that I described in my earlier post. He does it so perfectly. How can you not cry at that moment? Great Movie !

Oh man, I finally got to see this (bought it off Amazon) and was just so awestruck by his performance. I just fell in love with a bunch of the characters in this movie and I have to admit it brought tears to my eyes at the end. I got the point, but I was sad to see her move on just the same. I have to say I liked the moustache (I know some of you didn't). I loved all the quirky things they did, the I love you game, the way they sang together. I chuckled at the thought of all these dead people watching videos in their home. I also liked that Alan took the time to study how to play the instrument so that it would look 'real' for the film. I mean, I'm no authority but it looked like he was really playing (I'm assuming he didn't know how and just went through the motions for the film but it was very realistic to my eyes). There were just too many great scenes to mention, not just with 'Jamie' but with 'Mark' as well. And one of my favorite things was the thought that in this 'ghost' story, she had the ability to touch him, to feel him as any other person, to be able to fully enjoy his presence until she was ready to let go.

Oh man, I finally got to see this (bought it off Amazon) and was just so awestruck by his performance. Wasn't he marvelous in this? I love it when he recites that poem in Spanish - 'La Muerta'. Like Nina says, his accent is horrible, but I love the slow, meaningful way he delivers the lines. So wonderful! I thought I'd heard somewhere that those were someone else's arms actually playing the cello . . . but now I'm thinking I imagined it. Has anyone else heard that same thing? There are just so many great scenes in this movie, aren't there? I love the relationship Nina has with her boss . . . I love the little detail that he has to have her translate the postcards his son sends him because he can't read Spanish.
