Wasn't he marvelous in this? I love it when he recites that poem in Spanish - 'La Muerta'. Like Nina says, his accent is horrible, but I love the slow, meaningful way he delivers the lines. So wonderful! Yes, I remember her commenting more than once about the horrible accent. But at least he was trying. :-) REALLY??? Well, some of the angles would have meant a really good 'splice' to get someone else's arms in there. I mean, some of these shots were fairly close to AR's body. Then again, with what they do with films these days...anything's possible. It wasn't that I thought he was actually playing, just going through the 'motions' real good. I agree. I liked the scenes with her and her boss. Great relationship. And even her with Titus and George. They are had a decent friendship going rather than a purely professional relationship. Heh heh, yeah, that was great with her boss not able to read Spanish. You'd think he would have learned. Guess his thing was French (love when he told that guy off in French). And I still chuckle when I think of Mark hopping on one foot through the 'park' while telling her an annotated version of his whole life.

And even her with Titus and George. They are had a decent friendship going rather than a purely professional relationship. Oh, I just loved Titus. So much passion! When he asked her to go away with him and make love for a week - I thought, wow, how sweet was that, really?! Yeah, that seemed like a really fun date, didn't it? I must admit that Mark guy kind of creeped me out though. But that's just me. I guess I just can't imagine picking him over Jaime! But . . . that's missing the whole point of the movie, isn't it?! LOL . . .

No billywiggy, you are right. There is no way I would have picked Titus over Jaime (personality flaws and all). And what is it with these people hopping into bed on the first or second date? ? DANG!!! I'm getting old. Can't see rushing into things like that. gotta have love and a strong sense of fidelity from the guy far as I'm concerned. And there is no way I'd fly off to Paris with Titus for a week of love-making 'just like that'. May be flattering and even sound romantic but, like I said, I'm too old to see physical love without romantic love as being 'wonderful'.

Ithought I'd heard somewhere that those were someone else's arms actually playing the cello . . . but now I'm thinking I imagined it. Has anyone else heard that same thing? I remember reading that Alan does one hand ( the one with the bow) and a proffessional does the finger work, while Alan learned to play the cello, he did not feel that he had progressed enough to pull that off, and perfectionist that he is he asked for a double, as to not diminish the performance......who knows

Wow! Thanks both of you for all the information. I can see that. I found it interesting to see that he at least attempted to learn to play the instrument for the part. That was very cool.

I loved this film, even if the surrounding was awful. The flat was tragic but who cares when their love was so beautiful that it made the flat much prettier!I loved the scene when Jamie came back. I adored when he let ghosts move in ;D All in all, the whole film was great and to be honest, Jamie's wife (I don't know her name) played excellent too.

Wow! i love this movie with Alan Rickman. This is the movie that made me start to like Mr. Rickman. This is a lovely movie, but i always want to cry by the end of the movie. I wish Jamie would not have died. I just watched this movie the other day, and i finally was able to buy the film a few days ago.

I just saw this movie a couple of months ago. WOW!! From the time Jamie came back to Nina, I was hooked. I loved the way he just scooped her up and clutched at her like he couldn't get enough of her. Then when they sang together my heart just melted. I love Alan's singing voice. But what really got to me was the end when he waved goodbye to Nina. He loved her as much as she loved him and it had to be an awful sacrifice on his part to come back and help her move on.
A beautiful movie made even better by Alan's performance.

I loved Alan singing in it....It's absolutely amazing!!!! When he started singing, I was absolutely floored. I never expected it and I certainly didn't know he had such a great singing voice. Like so many other things Alan does, he threw his whole self into that scene. [qipte]I thought the whole I love you game was so cute!!!! [/quote] Yes it was. But then when he's by himself closing the window and he pauses to watch the clouds go by, the look on his face ... I really didn't understand it until the end. Then I realized Jamie knew they would be playing the cloud game for the last time and it was very difficult for him.

For what it's worth, the Alan Rickman Download Haven has Alan's songs available for download. I've got both of his songs from TMD (as well as a few other sound clips from that site) on my iPod. It's so great to get bits of Alan between Coldplay and the Beatles...
