I haven't seen this movie in ages. My library had a VHS copy, and I watched it last year. I recently bought the DVD, but haven't had much time to watch it...

I had a hard time finding this on DVD. The main reason being that I always looked in the Drama section, not Comedy. There were some funny parts in it, but I really think it should be in the Drama section. The ending was a big surprise for me. It was like SLAM!movie's over. I didn't understand things very well the first time, but after a few more viewings (and subtitles!), the story became slightly less confusing. Stella sort of annoyed me though.

Ok, there are only (so far) two Alan movies that I didn't really like, and this was one of them (The other incidentally is Judas Kiss- what WAS that accent?!). I didn't really have a clue what was going on, then things got a bit weird *hem* (ya'll know what I mean I'm sure) and I was rather uncomfortable (grade A prude that's me!). Alan was good though, I always have no probs believing he is the character he is supposed to be- and I loved him as Captain Hook, he should definitely do panto ;D I don't think I'll be rushing out to buy the dvd, or even keep the tape I used to record this from sky!

I think he should do panto,I mean,he was brilliant as Hook in this film, and if Sir Ian can do it,then why not Alan..... I will keep my copy,I must keep up with all my Rickman films,I am obsessive now!!!!!

Sat and watched this again today, off work with a flipping bad shoulder, and could not help laughing when they ask PL to go over and talk to Hugh Grants character..... Potter!!!!! It was priceless....Silly,but priceless... The more I think about it,the more I think that JK has seen all of our mans films and added a little of his characters in the HP films....Crazy maybe!!!

I've just acquired this film, albeit on VHS. Apart from the subject matter I did enjoy this film. Alan played a great role and he was great as "split my infinitives" Captain Hook, ..."the best Captain Hook there has ever been." How true, he was brilliant. I must admit I watched 2 particular scenes more than once, heh. "Heroically, twice nightly."

I must admit I watched 2 particular scenes more than once, heh. ;D Ah - I think I know which scenes you mean - LOL! I just watched this movie for the first time this weekend . . . I don't really know what I think of it yet. Alan was definitely the best part of it - although I must say that I really liked seeing Hugh Grant playing an unsavory character for once! (And he pulled it off really well!) I also loved that AR's first three scenes are with these women who are talking his head off . . . and he doesn't say a word! His first lines are "I know that girl" . . . kinda creepy once you know the ending. I think I'll understand it better if I do what sevvy_sinclaire did and watch it again. Oh - and did anyone notice that not only is there a 'Potter' in there . . . but an Uncle Vernon and a Lily as well??!!

I am undecided about this one. I was ready to stop the film after about, I'd say 50 minutes, until...wait....oh now here comes Alan Rickman. Once he made it onto the screen, I enjoyed the movie. He really made the movie in my opinion. Or maybe I am just obses...no I'm not. He did make the movie. The ending was devastating and um...well....disturbing ( ) to say the least.

Ladynra...see my post about three posts up on Oct. 13 regarding your question on whether or not Alan is in this movie much. Once he is actually IN the movie, he has a big role actually!

Yeah, I noticed that. What I meant was, once he was in the movie, did we see a lot of him (hmmm...pun semi-intended). Seriously, I was just wondering if it was a juicy role for him...drat... ;D ... a role where he shows up alot. Shoot! Even that sounds like an innuendo. Bad girl, bad girl. In any case, you did answer it just now so I'm glad to hear that.

He he he...nice try, but I'm not one to post spoilers! You'll just have to see for yourself. I just couldn't live with myself if I didn't at least warn you NOT to watch it with your children after you posted what you did in the Dark Harbor thread ;D! And that's ALL I'm going to say about ALAN being IN this movie ! What more can I say ! There...are you happy? Oh...and I stick to how I felt about the movie on my Oct. 13th post.

Had to throw that one in there huh? ;D I'll be patient. But let's just say that I can't wait to see it. As for the spoilers, I'm wondering if it wouldn't be fun to have a thread for movies where spoilers are discussed. In other words, those who've seen it can chat about it to their hearts content (with respect for younger members of course) while those who haven't seen the movies can avoid that series of threads. I enjoyed talking about and analyzing Dark Harbor.

How else can we enjoy talking about the movies without actually discussing what happens? I think some of the time things have to be 'left out' of the discussion as they might not be 'family friendly', as some of ARs movies tend to be, but plot-wise? Is there a spoiler policy I'm not aware of? *Looks around fearfully*

I don't know either which is why I put in a note that I was gonna discuss spoilers for Dark Harbor. There was one site for Stargate Atlantis that had some sort of coding you could use to make your posts invisible unless you highlighted them. So it would say "spoiler" in bold letters and then be blank on the spoiler parts. This way the person wanting to read the spoilers could, and those who didn't could just skip over it. But I don't remember the html code for that offhand.

Good question...is there a policy? I would love to have open discussions on the movies, especially considering we are all rickmaniacs and have no doubt either seen the movie or soon will be seeing the movie. I'd say this: Don't read the thread until you have seen the movie, then when you finally have seen the movie, come and join the thread aye, or be forewarned... you will read spoilers! Anyway...it's is up the mods of course ;D! Hey EmmyMik, Mugglemichelle, Ringo....want some Chocolate ?
