Hello everyone, I'm new and sooooo happy to find a place to talk about Alan Rickman. It's so easy with some actors to get caught up in infatuation for the character and overlook the actor, but with Alan I've never had that problem. I really admire his work. He just totally brings Snape to life. His voice is so amazing. I rented Blowdry today and when it first started I wasn't sure when he would appear so I was reading my mail, and suddenly I hear his voice it is so distinctive. I would recognize it anywhere. When I looked at the TV it was just showing the front of the barber shop. But I knew it was him. It's a good thing I'm single because a husband would certainly get jealous if he saw the effect Alan's voice has on me. I'm so happy to be here, and glad that I found your site.

Greetings fuzzy! *waves* welcome to our humble Alan-abode! Alan's voice is one of his "swoon" features for me too

Yeah hello fuzzy ;D and welcome You are defiantly in the right place if you are in love with Alan. I could listen to his voice for hours. I have page 394 from POA taped on my phone just so i can hear his lovely voice when I'm at work.

Hello Fuzzy and everyone. I am new to this thread as well. I feel the same way you feel fuzzy, or I guess I get that 'fuzzy' feeling too (whatever way you want to look at it) when I watch Alan Rickman act. ;D I AM married, and it is a little tough keeping my husband and Alan balanced in my life. My husband and I are in love to the millionth degree, but he understands my love and adoration for Alan Rickman. He makes it much easier for me, so it really is not bad at all. I really consider myself lucky to have someone who understands me like my own husband does. He is not jeolous. I just have to make sure I spend more time with him than I do with Alan - on the screen of course. Anyway, it is good to be a part of this forum!

Welcome, welcome! Good to have ya! Recently I e-mailed a friend a life in general update and mentioned (in a mood of general giddiness) my adoration of Actor Alan, he emailed me back something to the effect of an amused eye-rolling "Hmmm. Okay, then". Obviously, he needs to be educated, eh? Lol.

Or, maybe he just needs to be female with a desire to listen to a voice as pure as liquid gold, and want to watch such acting with grace, splendor, brilliance and perfection. He can roll his eyes all he wants; he just doesn't know what he is missing! But at least we do. : ;D

My husband and I are in love to the millionth degree, but he understands my love and adoration for Alan Rickman. That's so great! My husband doesn't really 'get' it (I've tried to explain the Alan Trinity: looks, talent, voice) . . . but he leaves me to it! ;D And he very generously lets me indulge myself in obscure Alan movie purchases!! Although he balked at going to the 'Searching for John Gissing' movie that was playing at a film festival near us (grumble grumble grumble). Ah, it was a Friday night, he was tired and I sorta sprang it on him at the last minute (my bad!).

giggin_arfan What was Search for John Gissing like? You must be in a very small minority of fans who have actually seen this movie!! Go you! ;D

I wish I got to see it, but actually it was Billywiggy who got to see it, and I was going to ask her the same thing. Billywiggy, what was it like? Tell us all. You lucky girl! I hope it comes out to the big screen sometime.

I deserve 200 lashes with a wet noodle for not being a proper Rickmaniac, I know! Please don't kick me off the boards now!

We would never kick you off the boards Thanks! I'd deserve it, though! I just didn't want to go out alone at night in LA. I still haven't gotten used to life in a large city and it overwhelms me sometimes. I'll definitely regret this one if the movie never comes out!!

Ah a chance to prove my allegiance. I have joined netfix just so I can get all of Alan's movies. I was having such a hard time finding them in the video stores. I just finished with Madly, Deeply and Mesmer. I think S and S is next on my list.

How does Netflix work? I usually just buy my Rickman movies so I can pop it in anytime and watch, but is netflix worth it? I already own 20 of his movies, so maybe it is too late for me. I am always on the hunt for his movies.

I love Netflix. You pay under $20 a month, choose what movies you want, and they send them to you. You can have three out at a time (you have to pay more to have more at home) Keep 'em however long you want. When you send each back they send the next in your queue. This is how I caught up on my Rickman films, too. Couldn't find the ones I wanted at the rental places or Wal Mart or Target. I've watched most of the X-Files seasons, and am working through ALL of Star Trek TNG. I was so happy when Truly Madly Deeply, Sense and Sensibility, Blow Dry, Dogma, Galaxy Quest, Love Actually and Die Hard showed up in my mail box. (I had never seen several of them, and after watching the ones from Netflix, I own several now.) Sheeesh, this is turning into an ad for Netflix. But it works for me

Hi actingangie, Thanks for the info. It sounds like a good deal because I love all types of movies, but it probably wouldn't help me with my Rickman selections. I already have most of his movies on DVD. Well, only those movies that we unfortunate, underprivileged, people who live in the US, region 1 part of the world, can get their hands on anyway . Those movies that I do not yet have, I will be purchasing soon ;D. Can't wait really!

Hi there, I'm new to this site, but wanted to share some Alan moments with you. Last year I took my daughter, who is slightly disabled, to the POA premiere in London. She is a great HP fan. We had a special position next to the press, with no barriers. We met all the stars and she got 19 autographs. All but Alan, who kept to the other side and did not come over. I filmed the whole thing on my camcorder, including Alan signing books, he was about 12ft from me. I am transfering the film to dvd and hope to put it on ebay soon so other people worldwide can share in this magic day. It was the first time I had seen Alan live, I was shaking all over. He moved very majestically and did not speak much, but looked wonderful. Later that week I got some brilliant news, my niece had moved to London, she was in an area that I suspected Alan lived, so told her to look out. Sure enough, within days she reported back that not only had she seen Alan several times, out jogging, at the local grocery store and walking up the road, but he lived right opposite her! Amazing! I was so jealous! So, with his address in my hands, I wrote to him about how disappointed we were not being able to get his autograph at the premiere, and could my daughter have one. I did not expect to hear anything. Within 3 days a letter plopped onto my mat, I reconised the hand written envelope right away, (he does his "s" in a special way) I carefully undid it and inside was a large photo of Alan with "To Angelina, with best wishes from Alan rickman" She was thrilled. The photo had his fingerprints all over it. I kept the envelope and wrapped it in plastic! My address in HIS handwriting! How brilliant is that! I am going to the interview where Alan talks to Andrew marr on the 25th Oct, have asked him if I could talk to him after, so far have no reply, we live in hope! Ambereyes Indeed I think we are all very jealous of your 'claim to Alan fame'! ;D I'm sorry that you didn't get Alan's autograph at the POA premiere! I can't believe he missed you. My friend and I were also there, on the same side as the press (with our backs to the Odeon) and Alan came around to see us. Still, I think Alan made up for it for you Are you going to the Goblet of Fire premiere?

I was on the other side of the odeon entrance, so he went to your area and then straight into the theatre. I missed him posing for the press at that moment because Dan (Harry) had just arrived by my daughter and was signing her book, so I was busy filming that, when he went I looked back and Alan had gone!...bad timing! Yes I will be there, same place on Nov 6th! I have asked Alan to come to that area to say hello, hope he does this time.
