First of all, Welcome, ambereyes! Secondly, what a great couple of encounters you've had with Himself! So jealous...;D. I hope you get a chance to talk with him and then report back to us!

so I was playing a movie while while I was away and working on the weekend, and had the door open to the college corridor, and every time that Alan was on screen people would be magically drawn into the room... mesmerised by Colonel Brandon, who can blame them?

Yes I will be there, same place on Nov 6th! I have asked Alan to come to that area to say hello, hope he does this time. Have you heard if he is definitely going to the premiere? I am a little nervous after reading Nobel Son starts filming next week in LA!

Yes I thought about that too! But I think he will do the premiere here, then fly to New York for the HP prem there on the 12th, before going on to LA. They can shoot other parts while waiting for him to arrive.

That sounds like a fantastic plan! You should perhaps write that down and stick it through his letter box just as a suggestion incase his agent has any other ideas

Ha Ha.... will do! My daughter (Angelina) 12, not the one from Harry Potter! came home from school beaming today. Evidently her English teacher is friends with a guy from Warner Bros, who is interviewing Harry, Ron and Hermione about the film. He needs a junior reporter to ask them questions, and she put forward Angelina as a very good candidate.......waiting to see if he takes her up on it. Also adult members of the cast will be there too....ummmmm even more interesting.....of course I will have to chaperone her lol

Hi Winky, we went to egypt this year for our hols. Sharm to be precise. Can't say I would want to return in a hurry, what with the bombs going off the day after we arrived and me being really ill for 5 days with gastro enteritus, followed by my son, not the best of holidays!! Alan's address is...a very closely guarded piece of info lol He would know if I disclosed it to anyone, and I do not want to be the subject of the "WRATH OF RICKMAN"

I have an idea! Why don't you just give us your nieces address, and then we could just kind of casually walk across the street and ...well you know! That way technically you wouldn't be giving us his address ;D hehehe! Just joking...we know you'll never give it up! And anyway...we would never want to disrespect his privacy!! You are so priviledged to know where he lives .

You could write to his agent. This is her address:
ALAN RICKMAN C/O ICM, OXFORD HOUSE, 76 OXFORD STREET, LONDON. WID IBS
Melanie Parker, his agent, passes the letters on to him. I used this one first, and eventually got a signed pic back, with my name on it.

Now, now, let's all settle down here! While we would all dearly love to know the address, we should all respect Alan's privacy. (He'd fall down on the sidewalk from all the drool)
That said, how'd your niece like a visit from oh, say twenty?(of us regulars here?) of her "closest" friends? JUST KIDDING!!!

I am certifiable proof of the wonderful-ness of Alan's assistant and how quickly she responds to letters! (passing over last years unacknowledged scarf gift though.....) I know it takes a while to get signed piccies back but Alan doesn't let his fans down

When i was younger i was upset that Geri Halliwell never wrote back to me but i am over that now. The one thing that upset me the most was that a while back i was going to write to Joan Sims who i was a big fan of because i love the Carry On films. I got the address and i wrote the letter but i forgot about it for a while and never posted it. Any before i posted it she died and i was mega upset especially when i stumbled on the letter after, it was sad.

Hi Everyone! I'm a new member, though not a new fan of AR. But it is only recently that I've gotten into actively seeking out his less commonly seen performances (like Sense and Sensibility, Robin Hood, etc.). I have to say I'm having a grand old time too. Deep sigh. I just got done listening to him narrate Return of the Native. Try explaining that one to your boss...I am allowed to listen to music while I work but brought in the tapes. And of course, for once I got asked what I was listening to and then trying to explain why I'm listening to it. LOL! I managed, with the truth no less. I mean, "I find that wonderful voice so relaxing" IS the truth. Yes, I agree, Sense and Sensibility is unbelievable. Heck, had I been her I would have married Col. Brandon in a heartbeat!!! ;D To the person who provided the agent address...many thanks. I understand your predicament. I had a home address to a well known character actor (before it became commonly available) and lots of people would ask for it. I discussed it with him and came up with this solution. They'd provide the letter and postage and I'd address it and forward. He was okay with it done that way. Fortunately, he loved getting fan mail and with few exceptions, answered each and every piece of mail. But I'm just as happy going through an agent for this sort of thing. About me, I'm 50, have 2 girls (13, 16), am a certified true-blue bookworm. I'll read just about anything but have been reading far too many Snape fanfics lately (well, can you ever read TOO MANY of those?). And watching too many of AR's films judging by the look on my kid's faces. Fortunately my girls and my husband are used to this quirk in my personality and just sigh heavily and leave me be... My husband recently saw Love Actually with me and 'cussed' me out for getting him hooked on it. I suspect this one will be added to our DVD collection before long. Anyway, I'm looking forward to chatting with you all!!

You sound like you should have found this this place ages ago! Its a lovely place to be! Thanks for the welcome. Yeah, I should have found it ages ago but wasn't really looking. You know how it is, I have face the wrath of my 13 year old when I want to enforce "Mommy Property Laws" concerning the computer. So I usually go off and do other things...tell her to get off ("I will I will")... go off again and do other things...tell her to get off...well, you get the idea. And of course, one she disconnects from the modem, the phone instantly rings for my older daughter. I wait, with great anticipation, for our electric provider to finally finish getting their own DSL (?) hookups going so I can use the computer AND the phone at the same time. Well, skip that...one will be on the computer and one will be on the phone. Sheesh... Oh, yeah, it's no big deal. It was Jonathan Harris. He passed away about 3 years ago. You'd remember him from the old series Lost In Space if you were old enough for that, plus he did a huge # of guest appearances on TV shows and did a bazillion voices for cartoons like A Bug's Life, Problem Child, Channel Umptee 3. I've been a fan of his since I first saw Lost In Space and I was about 10 when it first came. Incredibly good to his fans as I said. My favorite Alan film so far is Sense and Sensibility. I mean, I melted each time he looked at Joanna(?). I'm thinking, "Stupid girl, you are going after the wrong guy! Look at Col. Brandon over there." I've got some others on order right now. And yeah, I like Snape. I mean, I can honestly say I probably wouldn't have liked him much from the books, ya know? Though I am a sucker for redemption stories and the tales of those characters who are being redeemed by someone else, I probably wouldn't have cared much about Snape if Alan wasn't playing him. But Alan gives him that extra...uh...something...that makes me like Snape no matter what. So now, as expected, I can't wait to see the following movies. I have Rasputin on order, and Robin Hood, and Dark Harbor. So maybe my fav movie will change. BTW: After seeing him looking so different in each movie, does anyone know (duh, right?) what his natural hair color and eye color was/is?
