His hair colour was dark blond, now it is more grey! His eyes are amber. He is 6ft 1 and a half. Has a bad knee after falling on the set of Die Hard which often plays him up, watch the film Judus Kiss, he was having a really bad time with it then, the limp was for real.

I'll read just about anything but have been reading far too many Snape fanfics lately (well, can you ever read TOO MANY of those?). Welcome! I can completely relate - I've been hooked on Snape fanfics for awhile now. I keep thinking I should branch out (after all, there are other characters that I like too), but can't seem to . . . ;D Anyway, glad you've found us - we're all just a little crazy about Alan!

Welcome, Ambereyesbut, we are a little 'crazy' for Alan in a GOOD way of course! I think you will like it here at ARAS. I love it here! We all seem to have many different personalities, but of course we all consistently share the same love and adoration for Alan and his acting. So..His eyes are Amber...like your username ? He fell on his knee like I did at work the other day? Hey Alan and I have something in common - lucky me ! Also, welcome Ladynra

Hence your moniker "ambereyes", huh? ;D Thanks for the info. I suspected it was close to what we saw in Sense and Sensibility. Haven't seen Judas Kiss but I did watch Die Hard earlier today. Sounds like they abused him on that movie So many actors end up with work related injuries but just keep plugging along.

My daughter calls him my "new obsession". That's not entirely accurate because I've liked watching him for a few years but yeah, it has become a more pronounced interest lately. I like the fanfics of Snape though I get frustrated with this add on stories where they do a chapter a month so I gotta remember the story, and sift through all the new additions and updates just to find one that I liked that has been added onto. Personally, I wish those folks would finish a story FIRST then when complete, break it into chapters and add the whole thing on at once. I've done some fanfic (not HP fanfic though) and always completed it (even if it was 40 or 50 pages) before putting it up anywhere. Always thought it was a pain in the posterior to read it any other way. Gotta say though that so many of those Snape fics are done by such talented authors. Okay, I love the romance stories best of all...sucker that I am for that sort of thing anyway.

Oh I know what you mean - I try and stay away from anything not 'completed' as I got burned a couple times with some stories that weren't finished and didn't have recent updates for the last year or so . . . abandoned! And yeah, I'm a sucker for the Snape romance ones too . . . it's just nice to see the guy get a little love. I hate it when he's too OOC though.

Me too, love the Snape romances. then again, it's only cuz Alan played the role in the first place that I feel that way. had some other actor played the part, I'm not sure I would have been thinking quite the same way though I liked the idea of a guy who looks all bad throughout a story and suddenly turns out to be the 'good guy' (HP#1). Yeah, some authors do him OOC and I don't mind much (I mean they have to do that in order to get him in love in the first place, gotta take some literary license in order to create that side of him.) However, some of the authors do get way off base with him. Depends on how they do it, I guess.

Like you said, it's nice to see him fall in love, but everyone's picking up on it and well...that's a little too much for me. (Especially when everyone's turning the stories into...well, something out of the PG-13 zone.)

Fanfiction is new to me as well, and I am finding it enjoyable (severus/Lily) . Anyway, change of subject! Does anyone know if the interview with Alan will be on the tele or even on the radio in Britain tomorrow? If so, would one of you from Britain record it and then we can make a deal ;D? I would really love to hear it or watch it, or even read it if I can get a transcript of it. I still haven't heard anything. Please, please, please...tell me someone is going to get some kind of recording of this interview Thanks, with love, - giggin!

Oh, my, ringo, that would be awesome if Alan would be a guest on Andrew Marr's sunday morning show. Alas, I'm not up early enough on a Sunday to regularly tune in but I shall be checking my TV listings in future. And Ralph Fiennes was on? I'm sorry I missed that. I expect it will be all over now - the interview with Alan and Andrew. There will definitely be reports about this at Claudia's guestbook, CLICK HERE! as there are a few people from there going to be there tonight. I can't wait to hear all about this.

Hi , Wednesday morning Oct 26th...feeling at the moment totally wrecked, physically and emotionally. Arrived in London with my friend Chris and met up with Karin the Swiss girl at her hotel. It was about 4.30pm so we found a pub nearby and had a coffee and a sandwich. Left there around 5.45pm and walked to the Chelsea Art School which was about a 10 min walk. It is quite a big place and we had to ask where the lecture theatre was. There was a cafe there where lots of people were waiting to go in to the same talk as us. Noticed a man with his wife that resembled Alan, only older. A lady at a desk was checking our tickets and crossing off our names. She said the doors open at 6.10pm and you can sit where you want. So we went up to the first floor where the theater was to get in line. About 8 people were there already. You could spot the Alan fans easily, girls about our age, flushed and giggerling, holding envelopes with photo's in. We went in, and somehow, unintentionally, got in front of the others. I went right to the front where I saw the front row had reserved tickets on, all accept 3, I grabbed them! There was no stage, just level floor, and 3 ft from us a sofa and single armchair, with a small coffee table with two bottles of water and two glasses. My friend Chris almost freaked out, "do we have to sit THIS CLOSE" she cried. You bet! although at that point I was having hot flushes! he was going to be SO near! There was about 100 of us in this small theatre and the temperature was rising. A man told some girls nearby to put away their cameras, no photography was allowed. I put mine away. That man like Alan I had seen earlier was sitting in the front row in one of the reserved seats. I could have been David his older brother. Then at 6.40 the side door opened and in they all came, all meaning the presenter, the Arts director, two blond women, one possible his agent, Alan and........oh god! RIMA! She had dyed her hair light ginger, but there was no mistaking her. Alan shuffled in and winked at "that man" while trying to hide behind the rest, he looked at the floor and looked scared to death! He sat on the sofa and the presenter on the armchair. Rima sat 2 seats from us with the other women. God! he was soooo close I could not believe it. He wore a black shirt which gapped at the second button revealing his bare chest from my angle, a black jacket that looked like he had slept in it! light blue jeans and brown boots. While the presenter was introducing him he fiddled nervously with his boots, and took a drink. His hair is nice and natural, collar length, mostly grey. Then the presenter spoke while Alan still fiddled around, very nervously. I felt for him. Rima sat there looking smug. Then Alan spoke......that deep soothing tone we know so well. The first thing he said was not to take photographs as it puts him off what he is saying and he won't remember where he was. Then he told anyone who was recording this interview to turn it off NOW. He was nice about it. The presenter then spoke a bit about his early life, while he was speaking Alan glanced over in my direction, looked back and then discreetly looked back right at me for a few seconds. He then looked away at the floor and seemed to get even more nervous. For the next hour Alan talked about his rise to fame, he made us laugh several times and began to relax more and smile. He doen't have a very high opinion of himself and seems to have drifted from one thing to the next, not really knowing what he wanted to do. He did not want to do DIE HARD but his agent talked him into it. He doesn't think he is good at anything. It was then question time, the presented chose the people who had their hands up, surprisely few. I was thinking hard of a good question, not too silly, not too complex, not too long. One girl asked him a really complex question, I had no idea what she meant, Alan was completley lost. She kept repeating it but Alan could not understand at all. In the end the girl said it in very simple language and he finally got it. The girl a few rows back behind me asked something, he turned towards me, gave me one of those quick smiles that he does and then back to a serious face as he looked up at the girl. I melted.......I wonder if he knew who I was from the photos I had sent him, he knew I was going to be there that night. All too soon the questions ended, just as I thought of one, but it was too late. We all clapped. Interview over. The presenter showed Alan the door and he got up, soon surrounded by his protection team (Rima etc) Alan seemed reluctant to go and said goodnight to everyone as he was almost pushed out of the door and disappeared. No photos, no signing autographs, no chance to say hello. I feel if he had been there on his own he would have had time for his fans. He is very much minipulated by others, they take change over him. He is not a strong character at all, hard to believe from some of his film characters, but in real life you just feel you want to hug him and protect him, he is very much a little shy boy in need of love. He even admitted it himself that he still felt like a child. We left to go home, arriving at 10.45pm. I could not sleep last night at all, and for some reason cried my eyes out most of the night. I still feel close to tears this morning. Why? I just don't know, maybe the anti-climax, being so near to him, hating the way they run his life, wanting to hold him close...he really has an impact on you. It will take me days to recover. Wish you had been there with me and then you would have understood what I'm trying to say.

Thanks for that Ambereyes . I feel like I was right there with you. It was so sweet of Rima to go to the interview with Alan. He must have been so nervous . He looked at you ? You lucky woman ! It just amazes me how modest he is. He is just the most brilliant actor I have seen, yet he doesn't realize it, or have this enormous ego like most actors do. Well, thanks for the editorial on your experience with the interview. I would still love to get a transript of the interview somehow. Do you know if it was recorded? Thanks ;D!

I do not think anyone there recorded it, not after Alan's warning anyway, unless it was done in secret. It was not recorded for television, or filmed. Shame really. Yes, I think he is trapped and feels it. Too many people making decisions for him and telling him what he can and cannot do. I think that's what upset me so much.

Thanks anyway Ambereyes, just thought I would ask because I like to keep up on...well...I guess I don't really know what I like to keep up on? You know I really wish Alan knew what real fans he had in this ARAS site! I get a sinking feeling that he thinks we are ALL like those girls who post *suggestive* pictures of him on the net (which by the way I avoid at all cost) . It is a little saddening to me. He should really know that we admire his acting career and we adore him for being...well...him . We are not like that here at ARAS? I wish he knew that! But that's just me! There you go! If I were to write him a letter...this is what it would say! Dear Alan Rickman, You have wonderful fans at the Alan Rickman Appreciation Society. I don't want those other girls to spoil it for us (I would explain this part more). I love your acting and want you to know I appreciate you for your dedication to all that is good in life! I have my 'makepovertyhistory' wrist band on every day ;D. You are a great inspiration to so many actors, musicians, writers, humanitarians, and organizations alike. Rima is a lucky woman to have you in her life !

If you type in Rima Horton on google search it will tell you about her. Her picture is the first one on the images search, where it is followed by alan pics. I have other pics of her with Alan, not sure how to get them on here, but you are welcome to email me at susan.siracusaNO SPAM@ntlworldNOSPAM.com and I will send them. If you look over in the pics thread recently posted, I have posted a nice little moment that happened a few months back, where I suddenly had Alan's daughter! Go look! MODERATOR EDIT: JUST INCASE THOSE PESKY SPAMMERS ARE LURKING!
