I believe that everyone deserves to have a Colonel Brandon in their lives. Someone who will look at you as if you were the most beautiful thing in the world. Someone who will have unconditional love for you and will carry you through the rain and mud. Someone who will read you poetry on a lovely day out in the beautiful countryside... *sigh*
I adore this movie...

;)Gosh,I have seen this film so many times, and I just cant wait for when he rides on his horse and walks into the room, and that look :POh,dear lord, what to give to have a man do that one look towards you,it kinda makes you jealous of Kate Winslet right then.... ;D Have any of you listened to the commentary on the dvd,Emma Thompson is brilliant...give it a shot, its worth it,she calls our man...... "A Dish"....

I have just (for the first time) watched S&S. it is not a film i would useally watch but i thought the film was lovely. Alan was wonderful as ever in it of corse and Emma Thompson is a wonderful actress (her trelawney is brillient!) I didn't think she would marry him in the end though i thought it would be a painful ending but i was wrong. I am a fan of Elizabeth Spriggs who played Mrs Jennings (sp?) i used to watch in Simon and the witch when i was younger and i used to love it. She was the first Fat Lady in PS/SS as well till Dawn french replaced her in PoA. I love Dawn French too i grew up on French and Saunders. Overall i loved the film it made me laugh it made me cry and it made me happy.

I just saw this time for the first time, too, other day, and I also laughed and cried. No matter what Alan is in, I hope for a happy ending for his character And, it's very, very nice to see him smile!

I've just recently seen this film for the first time, and I loved it. Alan is so sweet in it! I have no idea why Marianne would prefer that Willoughby guy over him. *sigh* I wish I could have a Colonel Brandon reading poetry to me in that lovely voice of his...

I would love a colonel Brandon of my own reading poetry to me with his wonderful voice near a waterfall. I think i'll will keep that vision in my head for a while. I also loved the line give me an occupation, miss Dashwood for i will go mad. I loved it when he was wet as well, did we see him get dry, NO! I am mad!

Ditto! .... Um, I guess I should do a more-than-one-word post.... In this day and age, one doesn't see too much politeness or chivalry or grace. Pity. My 14 and 12 year-old cousins watched this with me the other day. I thought they wouldn't care for it, but they both seemed to, wanted to know what happened, and "isn't that the guy who plays Snape? He looks good." Yes, my dear, he does.

I love the way he says spices too ( Squirrley) it sent a shiver down my spine.

I also watched it yesterday- I really think this is Alan's best movie, for most lovable swoonable character, best lines and sexiest costumes. He is my favourite Jane Austen character (although I haven't read/seen many of her stuff), selfless, patient, dedicated Ahhh I could swoon on all evening

This is currently my favorite Alan movie . . . he's just so absolutely gorgeous in it. And the way he reads to Marianne near the end "For there's nothing lost that cannot be found, if sought" or something like that *swoons*

Last night I was out with my friends. One of them also happens to be a Rickmaniac (though not to the same degree as us). We were talking about his movies (our other friends only see him as Snape), and we both came to the conclusion that Colonel Brandon is the sexiest movie character ever (now keep in mind we all love Johnny Depp, and we spent about 5 minutes drooling over an Orlando Bloom calendar).
My friend believes it's the boots. I said it's the fact that you have every possible thing that woman swoon for: man in uniform, lovely hair, great smile, will read poetry, brave...
Of course, our other friends just gave us blank looks and we decided that someday we must educate them on Colonel Brandon...
