Over in CoS I just got directed to the Galaxy Quest 20th Anniversary show. It's on britbitsandclips.com under the television page. It's almost as hilarious as the movie. Great historical document.

Yep you most certainly do Candescence, and I tell you the more you watch it the funnier it gets!
It's one of my favourites as it is Alans!
"I won't say that stupid line one more time!" "I was an actor once dammit now look at me!"
And the ever popular.
"Just like mother used to make!"
erm? Are there supposed to be other people in the film?

Yep you most certainly do Candescence, and I tell you the more you watch it the funnier it gets! I can't understand why I laugh just as hard every time I watch it as I did the first time I saw it. I keep thinking I'll get tired of it, but I haven't yet. Yes, there are other people in the movie (a great cast), but Alan still has all the memorable lines. When I go on vacation in July, I'm taking the DVD with me.

I'll never get tired of this movie ! Hey Des...when you take the dvd on vacation with you, are you going to watch it, or are you going to just snuggle with it ? LOL!

Just thinking about it I get the giggles. Ahhhh, ya caught me. Hey, a little Alan snuggling is just the thing I need to relax. But I'll also be spreading the word and getting as many of my relatives as possible to watch it with me. I'll also be in Asbury Park playing a little skeeball ... if you know what I mean.

This movie just makes me laugh every single time I watch it, even, like on Monday night, I only caught the middle on tv, I was glued! Somehow my mum has escaped watching it but was chuckling along, might have to get the dvd out and 'unfortunately' watch it all with her I was noticing how different Sigourney looks in GQ and in the Snowcake trailer, e.g. the way she is portraying Linda in Snowcake compared to the bubbly character of Gwen in GQ. Alan looks the same though, even though GQ was made 7 years ago, the man doesn't seem to have aged.

I noticed that myself and it's a good thing, too. I'd never be able to take her seriously as Linda if she looked anything at all like Lt. Tawny Madison AKA Gwen DeMarco.

Well my Mom and sister bought this movie for me on DVD over the holiday weekend and I was able to watch it today! So funny!! ;D I didn't actually think it woud be that hilarious. I love the line "You broke the bloody ship!" I also watched the behind the scenes making of the film which was on my copy. He had long hair in the interview scenes. A great film; definitely one of my fave Alan films now

I received a google alert which led me to this article. It mentions Alan in Galaxy Quest. "Top five mistaken identity films" 3. Galaxy Quest (1999) Synopsis: Roles become real life as the cast of a sci-fi TV show are recruited by aliens to help them fight against a gang of intergalactic grizzlies. BD: More fun than Funland in Ulladulla, Galaxy Quest is a prime example of a film that retains a touch of warmth even though it's taking the piss. Even sci-fi buffs who relate to the comic book guy from The Simpsons would find it hard to take offence at this subtle chuckle at fan-boy culture. The cast, especially the rapscallion Sam Rockwell and spaced-out romantic Tony Shalhoub, are tops. JC: Don't let the ridiculous premise scare you off because this movie is hilarious. Alan Rickman is my favourite as the serious thespian who gets extra applause at conventions for being British in this poke at a certain sci-fi telly show and its bizarrely devoted fan base. I never knew the movie's true genius until I found out that the baddie, Sarris, was named after famed film critic, Andrew Sarris. That's funny. The entire article can be found here. www.smh.com.au/articles/2006/06/08/1149359862555.html

Great quotes, IrishEmerald. I've been feeling very under the weather lately, so I decided to watch GQ. Dozens of hearty laughs later and I'm on the mend.

A friend from work and I have been having a DVD exchange. She's very tough to please when it comes to DVDs (she wasn't too impressed with "Sense & Sensibility", if that tells you anything). So I offered up "Galaxy Quest". Our conversation went something like this:
Me: It's funny. Her: Really. **eyebrow of disbelief** Me: No. Really. I mean, I know Tim Allen is in this movie, but just ignore that fact. Her: It seems kind of hard seeing as he's the star. Me: Just ignore him! Her: He's in the middle of the poster! Me: Trust me! It's funny!
And then she watched it. Her report, "I didn't think it was going to be that funny."
And so goes my eeeeeevil plan to slowly convert her into a Rickmaniac. It will happen, oh yes it will! :-)

And extra props for staying friends with someone who doesn't like S&S. Heh. She laughs at my lame jokes, and I must say, that is a sign of true friendship. My jokes are really lame.

I really love this film and I had it on whilst I was reading a Snape fanfic, so you can imagine what I was like lol!
I definitely love the line
'I'm off to see if there's a pub!'
And Emmymik your friend doesn't like Sense and Sensibility? What planet is she on?

Well, EmmyMik, anyone who laughs at your lame jokes and likes GQ is worthy of being your friend.
Think I'll watch the GQ 20th anniversary special. Almost as much fun as the movie.

Except for the fact that my sister didn't think it was funny... And then she said something that made my heart stop: Is his voice supposed to be like that?? It sounds weird and not nice at all. Alan has like the sexiest voice on the planet!! I don't think I'll succeed with turning my sister into a Rickmaniac.

And Emmymik your friend doesn't like Sense and Sensibility? What planet is she on? She's very much like me in that we find romantic and swoony movies quite laughable. Not at all romantic or swoony (that kind of goes with one time we spent a good hour or so mocking weddings) (as you can see, we're really nice people ). The only reason I like this movie at all is because of Alan. Topic? "I said miners, not minors!"
