Here you can talk about Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, the 5th installment in the Harry Potter series.

This was my favorite book until HBP came out. I loved how we weren't sure what Snape was doing, but that he was spying. Very mysterious. And I pitied him when we saw those horrible memories of his...

Oh, I know! I feel so sorry for Snape because of those memories of his. The poor guy.

Something just jumped up and slapped me about this book and what might have been a hint all along who was the Half Blood Prince! Now I haven't done my homework and gone and looked it up, but when Sirius is showing Harry the Black family tree, with all the pure blood wizards on it etc etc, Snape was never mentioned! Obvious now we know its because he's a half blood, but that never occurred to me to think of that at the time!

You're right....I didn't realize that either! That could have been a hint because weren't all pure bloods releated to the Blacks? If all the pure bloods were then listed on the Black family tree then Snape, if he had been a pure blood, should have been on there! I think I'll go read that section again.

I doubt every pure blood is related to them. James wasn't there (although he could be considered a blood-traitor) and others.

Yeah, I suppose so. But still, many pure bloods were listed on the Black family tree.

If the Snapes had been pure bloods, they would most likely have featured on the family tree, seeing as Snape is supposed to be so evil and pro-Voldemort (which of course we all know isn't true )

Of course Snape isn't "pro-Voldemort"! What crazy people are saying he is?

that was a nice subtle hint by Jo not putting snape in the Geneology chart Imagine how bad would have felt for Sirius if he were related to " Snivillus"

I expect that would have been devastating for Sirius to learn he was related to Snape.

I lover Fred and George in this book, they were at there best. I love every bit of Snape in it as well especially SWM, i can't wait to see a younger Snape. I truly hated Umbridge and was hoping something really bad happened to her but alas she still works for the ministry! Cho did my head in a bit though and the idea of the DA was great!

the idea of the DA was great! I loved the DA! Those scenes are among my favorites! It was nice to see Harry 'come into his own' in a way - see what he was capable of and could pass on to others.

This will remain my favourite book of the whole series (until Book 7 comes out.)
I loved Fred and George in this too Winky. I thought they were funny especially with the way they left Hogwarts by saying they outstayed their welcome, I hope they put that line in the film!
As for Snape being the Half-Blood Prince, I thought the biggest clue was in Chamber of Secrets where Hagrid said there aint very many purebloods, that most are half-blood or less, when comforting Hermione over what the blonde prat called her! Ding! the light bulb went up and I immediately thought Snape! Makes sense that both the heir of Slytherin and the Head of Slytherin, and the hero Harry all being Half-Blood at the same time.
As for the Snape's Worst Memory bit, did I want to slap James Potter in the face and kick Black where it hurts the most, and dust down Snape (I wouldn't have cared about his protests, I'd have done what I wanted not him! After that I would have kissed Snape telling him that he has something that those jerks will never have!) *useyourimagination*
It's strange really, when I read PS/SS I preferred that over Chamber, then when I read PoA I loved that over PS/SS. Then when I read GoF that became my worst Potter book in the series, then when I read OotP that overstepped PoA as my favourite and when I read HBP that overstepped GoF as my worst book, so if this carries on I suppose Book 7 will overstep OotP as my favourite! Only if she kills of Slughorn and Umbridge!

I was thinking today about this,I cant get this out of my head, now call me daft, which I know you lot will LOL,But,I was wondering if the little and wonderful speach that Snape gives about putting stoppers in death, was a little hint towards our lovely Dumbledore? Just curious, and I bet it has already been around a million times, but I cant seem to move on from that....Has got me thinking big time....

That's a great point, Ringo. You made me consider another meaning. I was thinking that the stopper may have meant the Horcruxes, but the idea that it is a hint for HPB is fascinating. Maybe Severus put a stopper in death when he attempted to heal Dumbledore's hand. He couldn't restore it to health, but he stopped the progression of the curse, and then on the tower maybe he did the same thiing and stopped the progression of the poison Dumblesore drank. I definitely think you're on to something!

Hey - you know, I'd never thought of using that interpretation of what he says. I always assumed he meant he could brew death, bottle it up and put a cork in it. Poisons, in other words. But that's a new way to look at it - possible!

I never gave that one much thought before. So, what if he put a stopper in the death curse? Oh boy....oh boy! I'm so excited now !

Yes! i do see what your saying Ringo! Now i was assuming that it was on about Horcruxes but there could have been a much more hidden meaning to it.
