Okay, well I can't stand rap and hip-hop and all that nonsense. (sorry if I insulted anyone!!) I suppose I’m not American because of that. LOL. But a lot of the songs nowadays are quite stupid, lacking taste or meaning, and I hate them because of that.
HOWEVER, I do love the love songs. LOL. Some, anyway. In English (“All I Want for Christmas is You” the Love Actually version), in Spanish (“Vivo Por Ella” meaning “I Live For Her”), and in Italian (“Sabore di Sale” meaning “The Taste of Salt”).
I also LOVE Christmas songs like “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”
BUT what I truly love is… classical music! Right now I have CDs with compositions of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Handel, and Mozart! They were great; they still are!

Yeah, I can't stand rap or hip-hop either. I don't get it at all. I usually listen to alternative rock or jazz or oldies. Or classical (my sis is in the BMG classical music club--we get great stuff!). My mom raised us listening to either classical or "oldies" (sixties/early seventies). I didn't hear anything current until I hit middle school, right around the time of Cyndi Lauper and early Madonna.
giggin, you are a musician? What instrument do you play? I took piano lessons as a child, and attempted to learn guitar (but can't say I'm any good at either)

giggin, you are a musician? What instrument do you play? I took piano lessons as a child, and attempted to learn guitar (but can't say I'm any good at either) I know this is completely in the wrong section...I apologize...but I am answering a musical question...so I'll answer ! Hehe...music is my life. I've been taught to play every musical instrument under the sun in some way, shape, or form (even if it was just learning how to hold it and blown into it to make a decent sound), but my passion is the trumpet. I've been playing the trumpet for 20 years...ever since I was 10 years old ! That's when I decided I wanted to become a band director! Ever since then, I've played in marching bands, Symphonic bands, jazz bands, Drum and Bugle Corps, in Opera's, Musicals...you name it...I've play in them ;D! Now I am a full time band director! I teach more than I play. I play in a community band and I play professional gigs when they come up! Anyway...that's enough about me. Here is a picture of me and my trumpet. My husband took this picture in front of our home a month ago, for a special C.D. I made for a wonderful mate for Christmas ! Check out the 'make poverty history' band around my wrist ;D! Go Alan! i31.photobucket.com/albums/c384/alanrfan/giggin_trumpet.jpg

What's your favourite Pet Shop Boys album, giggin? I love "Actually": it's definitely my favourite one. It's really hard to say, because I like so many of them, but if I had to choose, I would say 'Nightlife' is my favorite. 'Actually' is one of my favorites too; so is 'Please'. My husband just bought me the Discography, with all the singles. Thank goodness, because I had so many different C.D's with each of those singles. They were getting old ! I love the C.D. ;D!

So you prefer something newer I was asking because I've been listening to PSB much lately - old songs. Poor allegro was in love with Neil Tennant when she was about ten years old ;D but he appeared to be homosexual, no chances for poor little allegro... *rotfl*

I have such an odd taste in music. I'll listen to anything from classical to godsmack. I've actually listened to Music of the Night from Phantom of the Opera and then I Stand Alone by Godsmack right after it. My all time favorite Singer/Songwriter though is John Winston Lennon .... I love the man so much my first born son is named Lennon Michael...he was born on December 8th, I had to. I also love Green Day, Queen, Rammstein (can't spell that to save my life), Linkin Park, Staind, Korn, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne....I mean, you name it, I'll probably give it a try. I'm not a big fan of country or rap/hip hop though. One of the best bands I've heard in a while is called The Clarks. They have a really good sound, I'd check em out

I had a weird taste in music too actually. I love to listen to Italian Opera, or any kind of Opera. I love to listen to Musicals like: Cabaret,The Rocky Horror Picture Show,Annie,Reefer Madness, Phantom of the Opera, and others! I do like to listen to Green Day,50 cent and others, but i love classical and light rock music better! Some of the singer's i love to listen to are: Russell Watson,Luciano Pavarotti,Robert Downey,Jr.,Phil Collins,Elvis Presley,Selena,Kelly Clarkson,Hilary Duff,My Chemical Romance,The Black Eyed Peas and others. And of course i love to listen to Alan Rickman sing!! ;D

I have a weird taste in music as well. I'm very eclectic (sp?). I like rock, country, 80s, showtunes, Disney (lol I know!), classical, The Beatles (they get their own category) and so much more! I couldnt begin to narrow it down. At the moment, I've returned to my roots and am now listening to a lot of Celtic/Irish music. I love the sound of it. Enya's new album is quite good and I am now listening to my "Celtic Woman" cd daily!! I highly recommend it.

I used to listen to music all the time, but for some reason, I lost interest in it. Maybe because of all the rap and hip-hop stuff coming out.
When I did listen a lot, it was 40's, 50's, early 60's, jazz, classical, musicals, folk, opera. Just about all music (except country) used to interest me.
Last summer I bought myself a personal CD player and have started a small collection. My two favorite CD's to listen to are Godspell and Tear Down the Walls by Martin and Neil (folk).
But the music that keeps running through my head is Phanton of the Opera. Just can't seem to get it out.

I feel a little alone now.
I have
HIM, Rasmus, Finger Eleven (they supported Evanescence and they wrote a perfect song for Snape!), Lacuna Coil. My favourite band is Nightwish and my favourite song is Everything I do (I do it for you.) By Bryan Adams! Evanescence of course I cannot wait until August as they will be bringing out their second album.
I also like alternative classics. Music from Bond especially.
John Williams is my favourite soundtrack artist and Schindlers List is my favourite work of his.
Kinks, Monkees, Manfred Mann are my favourite bands from the sixties. Although the Beatles track She's Leaving Home has me in tears everytime I listen to it as it is so poignant.
Eighties, All About Eve. Mission, Cure, Pet Shop Boys, Duran Duran and Adam and the Ants I also like Clash.
Classics, Beethoven and Stravinsky do it for me everytime, and I love the Bolero tune and Pier Gynt.
I guess the only type of music I am not into is Rap/RnB, but saying that MnM is pretty good I especially love Let's Get Down To Business. And Cleaning Out My Closet. I also like Without Me, the video had me in stitches!
I'm a Punk/New Romantic/Goth/Classicist! Make of that what you will!

Holy cow a Rap song won Best Song at the Oscars.
"“It’s Hard Out Here for a Pimp”" now sits beside such greats as "The Way You Look Tonight","Over the Rainbow","When You Wish upon a Star""White Christmas","Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah","High Hopes","Moon River" ,"Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head","I'm Easy","Evergreen (Love Theme from A Star Is Born)"the list just keeps going, anyways... it just seems so out of place, even beside the theme from "Shaft"
