If anyone is thinking of adding your message for his birthday, I just got this message from Niki and Anca:
Dear Alan Rickman fans,
This is Niki and Anca, the two admirers who are making a book for Mr. Rickman's birthday. Given the fact that on February Mr. Rickman celebrates his 60th anniversary, we thought we should let you know that our book project will be coming to a close end this Monday, Dec. 26th 2005. We will stop accepting any further messages. We have a lot of work to do still as we need to take all your messages to the print shop and thus make the book. Thanks to all who have participated in this and who have supported us from the beginning, it meant a lot to us. Now it's time we finish the job we began so many months ago, in April. We will keep in touch with all of those who have participated and tell you what has happened at the moment when Mr. Rickman will have received his gift. Thank you again for your colaboration, Niki & Anca

This message was posted by tigersnake over in the Help Desk: Okay well, seeing as there's a thread for news, pictures, drawings, icons, etc. on the man, I realized there isn't one for the voice!
A friend found this: www.chaoskitty.com/angel/ck_wls.html
Awesome, right?! Well maybe we can start a thread all about his voice; we can talk about it and provide clips playing his voice, like the link above.
Either that, or please tell me where to put the link so everyone and go check it out.
Thanks! What do you all think? Do we want a thread to just talk about the voice, or should we just appreciate away about the voice on this thread? (I'm thinking if I start a voice thread, I then have to start a 'teh body' thread and 'teh hands' thread etc...) BTW, do check out that link if you haven't heard Alan reading the sonnet from the When Love Speaks CD! ;D

I'm sure everyone is going to have their own opinion on this one, but hey, since I'm Quiggin now, right Qwinky , I feel I've been here long enough to know why I'm saying what I'm saying , if that makes any sense ! I think it was a creative idea, but I don't feel it is necessary to start an entire thread on his voice, seeing as though we talk about it in all of his movie threads, as well as, this one. I'd also like to mention that since that voice link above is a website, I'd like to see it posted in the Websites thread, because like that link, there have been a few other websites posted in different areas, that have been outstanding, and they are hard to keep track of, if they are not placed in that thread . So, that is my opinion , sorry Tigersnake. It was really a great idea though ;D!

I don't think we need a thread just for the voice we can just talk about it here. Quiggin now are you! Ha!
All bow for Queen Giggin MBE, OBE, ASBO & AWOL. HA!

I agree with Quiggin and Qwinky . . . although I am as yet a humble, what, aspiring Queen? Princess (yuk!)? - I too share the opinion of her royal highnesses . . . which is (sorry TigerSnake!) that we don't really need a separate thread for 'The Voice' - and I'll second Quiggin's notion of putting the post in the Website section. I do like to go back there and browse for fun sites to visit from time to time.

I never saw Alan Rickman before seeing the Harry Potter movies..let me assure you though, I look for him in everything I view now! He has taken the place of Sean Connery in my book and I'm Scottish! In a beard? I think he'd look smashing. An Oscar for him? He already has one in my book...Hollywood will wise up and see him for the actor that he is..eventually!

Hi suzannemarie Welcome to the boards! I think you're so right about the beard - Alan is devastating in a beard - kind of devilish, definitely sexy bad boy. Rent Robin Hood,Prince of Thieves or Die Hard and see for yourself!

Oh, I meant to mention the other day I got an email from Niki--unfortunately, I deleted it before I could quote some here. For anyone interested in the book project they did for Alan's birthday next month, it appears that they won't be able to present it to him in person, as he apparently will not be in the country.

You know - I don't really know where to put this - so I'm choosing here, as it's a generic 'appreciation' thread . . .
I'm enjoying Alan's reading of 'The Return of the Native' so much! It was a little hard to get into at first (the entire first chapter is a description of Egdon Heath!) - but now that the plot is rolling along, I'm hooked!
His voice is so amazingly expressive. He can capture different characters so well - and even has them having different accents! I love the way he portrays 'Christian' and the little boy - so small and scared. Then, 'Damon' with his bored hautiness. So perfect!
If anyone has any interest, however fleeting, in Victorian-era novels, you must rent or buy this! It's absolutely amazing.
All Hail the Voice of Alan Rickman! ;D

Oh yeah, man I love my tapes. (I really wish Alan had done more books on tape) My morning commute is not long enough to properly listen to them, or else they'd be in my car constantly.
I love listening to him do all those different voices. What did you think of him singing? I loved it!
Karma point to Teh Voice!

The first time he started up, I was so surprised! But he really does have a beautiful voice - I am constantly amazed by it. He should absolutely do more books on tape! He's got a gift of a voice, and he should be sharing it with the world! ;D

Ironically, I have the tapes, but no way to play them right at the moment. I shall buy a tape player soon.
