ladynra- about the scars, they were from the candle... if you watch dark harbour (poison ivy shower)you willnot see scars if you watch the extended edition they elaborate on the connection between the Sherriff and the witch and as an off topic aside, you mentioned dances with wolves, I am ashamed to say I have rewatched that movie several times edit: oops I type slow when i am drinking coffee, Ringo beat me to it

I didn't see anything like that in Love Actually but then again that wasn't a close up. I ordered the extended version of Robin Hood BTW so I'll be able to see it PROVIDED that it comes through as ordered. OT - I enjoyed Dances With Wolves don't get me wrong but not because of Costner's acting or appearance. I just loved the indian theme.

I've got Dances With Wolves, not for Costner, but the film blew me away when I watched it at school in my second year at secondary school. That was when I was twelve. I got the three disc edition DVD, I also have another Costner film, Tin Cup, but that is as far as it goes!
I plan on watching this tonight as I am moving and won't be able to watch an Alan film for a while!

I saw the Special Edition RH:PoT DVD pictured in the Best Buy sales ad. I can't remember the price (and I'm too lazy to go donwstairs and look), but it seemed like a good price. So if you don't have this DVD and live near a Best Buy, now is the time!

Ahhh, Robin Hood, where I first met and fell in love with Alan!!! I bought the movie for Kevin Costner, yeah, I admit it!, He was one of my loves back then. I still love him, he's the father of my daughter after all, but it's over between us. I left him for Alan. Back to reality . . .
Alan did steal the movie. I felt so bad for him when Robin stabs him with the dagger he (Sheriff) gave Marian. Sheriff George looks at Marian with so much hurt. I'm happy that the Special Edition has all those extra scenes!

just read this article, its a review of a stage version of Robin Hood.. enjoyment.independent.co.uk/theatre/reviews/article336866.eceto sum it up: blah, blah, blah Although Robin of Loxley is the hero, it's the wicked Sheriff of Nottingham who is the chief focus of interest. No actor can do this part without being influenced by Alan Rickman, whose line in snarling comic ham stole the Kevin Costner film version in the Nineties. blah blah blah ha

No actor can do this part without being influenced by Alan Rickman, whose line in snarling comic ham stole the Kevin Costner film version in the Nineties. Whenever I read reviews and they use the phrase 'comic ham' I suddenly have visions of Alan wielding a giant ham joint instead of a sword.... Ok, my very bizarre humour coming across today

Talking of this film, during the crimbo hols,I went and saw a panto, not the Sir Ian one, which I would have loved to have seen, but I digress, the guy who played the baddie(boo, hiss, boo)looked remarkably like our Alan as George, and kept doing the same things as our Alan as George, then he went on to "Cancel Christmas".....He was rather good.....But not quite the real thing......

I went to see a play done by college students and one of the boys who was play cheif evil had a Snape type wig on and once when he was leaving the stage the hair fell across his face the way it does in the films whenever Alan enters or leaves the room.
Robin Hood it all began with Call of Christmas.... *sigh*!

I re-watched this movie a few weeks ago, had a bit of an Alan night with Blow Dry as the b-movie and then the a-movie.
Is it my imagination or does the room where Mortiana live and work look very much like our beloved Potions class room? I swear it is the same! And if it is do you think Alan might have had a strange sense of deja-vu?
As for actors being influenced by his performance in this film I read a Tom Felton interview where they asked him who his favourite screen villain is and he replies The Sheriff, Alans version and then the interviewer asked him what Alan was like in real life and he replied 'He's just this guy!'

OMG, this, other than Snape, is my favorite role of his. I have been in love with that character since I was 16 years old. My mom and I used to watch it all the time and share delicously wicked thoughts of him...nice to see I get my good taste in men from somewhere!
He is just perfect in this role, and I have often wondered if JKR saw that and then had a thought like "hey, that is my guy for Snape." And the lines in that are just classic..."Its dull, you twit, it'll hurt more" is one of my favorites, that and "Call off Christmas" Oh, and when he sees the wenches outside his room and says to one, "you my room 1030" and to the other " you 1045 and bring a friend" Every time I think...let me be that friend!!! Oh dear, I do adore that movie. Must watch it this weekend.

Watch Dances With Wolves, Kevin is in practically every scene. Excellent movie; it was the right vehicle for Costner; he really wasn't very good in RH. The rest of the casting was excellent with the exception of Mostrantonio, because Maid (which in those days meant a very young & virginal girl) Marion should not have been played by a 30 something year old. You are probably right about the RH movie and the rumors, but the DVD Special Edition happens to have the deleted scenes re-stored and coincidentally, all those deleted scenes just happen to contain Alan. Even though it MAY not be on purpose, it does look suspicious because none of the restored deleted scenes contain Kevin or anyone else for that matter with the exception of Geraldine (the witch).
Then again, Robin Hood, is my fav movie because of Alan being so superbly wicked and funny in it, so, I guess I am biased after all! Lol!
Thanks for letting me put in my 25cents! The cost has risen from 2cents to 25 due to inflation! LOL. Have a good one!

Radientlight, Thankx for the feedback. I'll remember about the 25 cents. Also, what version of the DVD are you talking about? Is there another one after the Two DVD set (It's got a beige cover and folds out like a quad fold napkin) and has the our cute Alan responding to the "Why are you so good at being bad?" question that he hates so much? Is that the one? Because I can't find the deleted scenes. Maybe I'm missing something or don't have the same DVD edition you do. And, radientlight, I enjoyed our talk in chat last night. I'm going to check in tonight. Hope we get to talk. Heres a few screen capes from the interview and one of the "Unmasking" in which so many of us saw him for the first time. (except me--I saw--and noticed him first in Die Hard Take a look at this next picture in relation to what I mentioned last night... I promised I wouldn't mention it anymore but this picture really shows what I mean. Anyway, I don't care, really. He looks good. Period. I am talking about the 2 disc DVD set. The original release did not have the scenes I am referring to in it, neither did it when it was at the cinema. There is the scene in which the witch is spying on him in thru the peephole (that was not in the orginal release) then there is the scene where George asks Mortiana if his parents really wanted him to be school in Satan worship (not in orig. release) the part where Mortiana tells George to cut out the scribe's tongue ( not in orig.) and the part where George finds out the witch is his mother (also, not in orig., release). If you have the chance and can find it, try to get the original release that came out on VHS. You will immediately see where the deleted scenes fit it. I too enjoyed our talk last night. Looking forward to being there tonight about 10:00PM cst.

P. S. I love the screen caps! Wonderful! Karma point for you! I've been trying all day to do some caps from RH and just for some reason, this time it's not working. LOL.

Ok, where does the "Keven cut Alan's scenes" come would be so...so...nasty and obnoxious. :)from? I don't think Keven had a say in what was cut and what wasn't. the sheriff and Robin seem to be in two completely different films. Rickman is by far the most popular character in the movie. So much so that after the test screening, some of the sheriff's scenes were cut by the producers, to prevent him stealing more time and sympathy away from the film's hero. and as stated at imdb so there ya go, screen audience reacts more to Sherriff, Costner helps edit film

Alan was the redeeming feature of this film. What an excellent evil he did in this. One of my favorites.
