Well, since I guess I am considered a younger poster, I will tell you all what I would like to be. First of all, I would love to be famous (don't we all) and successful. I really love playing piano and writing (creative writing) so I think I want to do something in those fields. Right now, my plan is to go to college after my senior year of high school and get a BA in music and english/creative writing. After that I think I want to go to grad school, but I can't really think as far as that right now as I'm going through the stress right now of finding the *perfect* college for me (which is a lot harder than you would think!). After I'm done with college, I am thinking of getting a job as an editor (maybe) for a publishing house (so I can be sure to make some cash) and then for my free time, I'll do my creative writing and practicing piano. I'll hopefully get some of my stories and poems published and maybe a screenplay made into a movie (a girl can dream can't she!). I could also perform around with my piano. This summer I've been spending a lot of time practicing piano and writing so I think I'm doing a fine job of working towards my goals. Well, there ya go! My dreams, ambitions, and life. whew, it feels kind of good to get that all out.

Officially, I am a medical transcriptionist. Unofficially, I'm an actress; actually, I should say, an amateur actress (right now, anyway). Typing doctor's dictation keeps bread on the table, but acting is the blood coursing through my veins!

Isn't it nice all these aspirations we have? I guess that's what gets us through each day! I work for the government technically, in the Law Courts. I have a big posh title which means nothing, basically an administrator with a small team of bodies to boss about Not that they take much notice! I had started out wanting to be a writer, way back when I was a nipper (as an interesting fact, at the same age as JKR and just like her, I wrote my first story about a rabbit! Spooky!). I then bizarrely opted for dentistry, then town planning, then fell into a law court.... My web activities and theatre and premiere trips keep my creative brain ticking over til I figure it all out

Right now I'm a "sales associate" (meaning cashier) in the gift shop at the Air Force Museum. It's not the best job in the world, but I work with cool people, so that makes up for the loads of rude customers we get.
I recently graduated from college with a degree in early childhood education. Unfortunately, there aren't too many openings for elementary teachers, so I'm not really using that degree right now. I have no idea if I want to be a teacher all my life. I do love working with children, but I'd love to work in other areas of education (making educational computer software, television shows, books, etc.).

My occupation is simply titled "High school freshman." Back in elementary school, I wanted to become an archaeologist. I wanted to travel and I absolutely LOVE history, specifically Ancient History. Most of the books I read were about Egypt, Greece, Rome, etc. I knew how to read Egyptian hieroglyphs and what each symbol/god represented. I could tell you the difference between Greek and Roman mythology, and my favorite book was titled "The Trojan War." I was fascinated by the process of mummification of the pharaohs, the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, and the Greek drama, architecture, and the Olympic Games. But as I went through Junior High, my interests well... shifted a bit. My English teacher, Mr R, found that I had a 'natural talent in writing' (his words, not mine ) and encouraged me to develop my skills. So, in 6th grade, I entered this Young Authors' Faire and submitted a short story titled "The Quill is Mightier." I did it just for fun and to get Mr R to stop badgering me. (Man, I'm so mean. ) But then... WOW. My story actually won Best Author and received a certificate of merit. In 7th grade, I tried my hand at Journalism (again by the encouragement of Mr R). The local newspaper was looking for applicants for their new Teen section. When I applied they said I had some good essays for a kid my age and was very qualified, but they decided to go for high schoolers instead. *shrug* Oh well.. I preferred writing stories and poems anyway. They were more fun. Now Eighth Grade! (I hope you haven't dozed off yet. ) Sadly, Mr R had moved away at the end of 7th grade, but he made me promise to keep writing. Thanks to Mr W, [imagine Lockhart 9999999 times brainless and with a face that rivals Mad Eye's. Seriously. ], I had plenty of dark and angsty feelings to transform into dark, angsty, and beautiful poetry. Mr W was eventually sacked and replaced by Mr M, who gave me the oppurtunity to submit two of my dark, angsty poems to this contest sponsored by the America Library of Poetry. Two months passed before I received a reply, but by then Mr M kind of forgot to check up on me and the contest. The letter told me that one of my poems had made it to the semi-finals (the results come in September) and as a sidenote, it had also been chosen for publication in the fall! So, here I was, with no teacher to look up to and thank for my first publication, when some strange feeling came over me and persuaded me to do the unthinkable and contact Mr R to tell him the good news. And you know what? He actually responded back to me and said, "I told you so... Can I be your first fan?" So, yeah -- anyway, I think I want to be writer. Maybe I could write a screenplay for the movie that will finally land Alan a much overdue Oscar? Teehee. ;D EDIT: Oh wow. I wrote all that... Oops. xD

That's so awesome, keep on writing!
When I was in the 7th grade, I was very much into writing. I loved it. I even made it to the regional semi-finals in Power of the Pen (a writing competition). Of course, I didn't even make my school team in my 8th grade year, so I gave up on writing for a little while.
Then in my junior year of high school, I took a creative writing class. I learned so much and rediscovered my passion for writing, joined the school newspaper, and submitted a few stories for the school literary magazine. But then my high school self-esteem issues caught up with me, and I stopped writing.
I'm still extremely self-conscious about my writing, and at times I will agonize over what I write (from message board posts to livejournal entries). There are times when I wish I didn't give up so easily, because I do enjoy writing (and as a student teacher, I encouraged my third graders to write, and many of them discovered that they too enjoy making up and writing stories)...

Sinc Cool! You want to be a writer, too? We should do a collaborative screenplay together that will, like you said, cast Alan and have him win his best actor Oscar. Like you, I was very interested (and still am interested) in archeaology and anthropology. I think it would be a lot of fun to go travel to let's say, Egypt, to go on a dig and discover thousand year old artifacts and maybe million year old artifacts. That would be so exciting! You really sound like me except I never really entered any contests for my writing. I was homeschooled up til 9th grade (now I'm going to be a senior in high school) and then I never really had any teachers that persuaded me about entering contests. I'm thinking of trying my hand at getting some writing scholarships for college, though. The thing that has made me mad though is that I was going to take creative writing this year, but supposedly the school has cut it out of the curriculum! Can you believe that? And then they leave in classes like "Know Your Car" and Cabinetry. Sorry, but I am just mad that they would take out a perfectly good class. With piano, I started piano lessons at 12 (yes, I know, pretty late), but I got a great teacher and she told me that I was very talented. I was playing Fur Elise and regular classical songs soon after I began lessons. Soon, my teacher told me that she couldn't teach me anything more and had me start lessons with Dr.B, a retired music/piano professor at the college in my town. She is a great teacher as well and she had me doing competitions. This spring, I actually won second place in a piano competition! I was so thrilled! I am going to do some music scholarships for college, as well. In school, I do a lot of accompanying for the choir, ensembes(instrumental and vocal), and solos (also instrumental and vocal). I was principal keyboardist in my school's production of Les Miserables my sophomore year and that was so fun and amazong. This year we're doing "Aida" and I plan to play the keyboard in the pit orchestra again. Oh, and I also play piano for my town's youth symphony orchestra. So, yeah, like I said before, I'm going to do something with writing and music.

With piano, I started piano lessons at 12 (yes, I know, pretty late), but I got a great teacher and she told me that I was very talented. Hey, another thing in common. I've just started taking violin lessons and I'm 14. Not quite sure about the ' very talented' part but I'm working on it! It would be so cool to be one of those people who actually dug up all those artifacts, treasures, and mummy remains that you'd see in museums. I would absolutely love to do that one day. I also remember being slightly jealous when my friend returned from her trip to Europe and said she had seen the Colosseum, the Greek Parthenon, and Vatican City. Really?! I always thought that writing (or anything English-related) was more important than Cabinetry and etc. Man... I wanted to take creative writing as an elective for my frosh year, but my mom wanted me to work on my public speaking. So I am taking drama instead. (I'm terrible at those Speech/Debate things.) Now that leaves us with two screenwriters, one and a half musicians for the score (I only count as half ), and three performers. We could do a historical drama of sorts! Alan as the ambitious leader of an archaeological expedition, with actingangie as his young and enthusiastic apprentice, and my cameo as the cute and loyal German shepherd (yes, a dog). Yes Perfection!!

Cool! I love that idea of an historical drama. I need to have a cameo, too, though. hmm...who could I be.... aha! Alan's love interest. I think that's too big of a part, though. Well, I'll think of something else! Wouldn't that be cool if we could actually do this? We could hold audtions for parts and that kind of stuff. Of course everyone on this site would get first dibs. We'd need to get some more instrumentalists together, too, to make an orchestra of sorts, and oh, who would be the director(s)? Sinc do you think we could be the directors as well or should we find someone? Seriouly, we need some better movies made these days. Hollywood is turning out some pretty lame movies lately. I think our movie would be really successful -escpecially if Alan's a part of it. Yeah I thought creative writing was more important than car classes and cabinetry. That's why I'm mad that they'd take out a good class like creative writing! I'm also taking a class on public speaking/speech (Oral Communications) because I'm not a really good speaker. I tend to lose track in the middle of sentences of what I was talking about. So, cool, let's get the production of our movie started! What should we call it?

I LOVE IT!! Guess what? I've always been fascinated by archeology and history and that sort of thing too! As for writing, I enjoy it thoroughly. Though I've always thought I was a very mediocre poet, I recently got an Editor's Choice award, so apparently that poem wasn't too bad. Oh! I play guitar, about 12-13 years now, and I sing. So, when do we get started? Hmmm, as for the title....

We're getting kind of off topic so maybe we should make a different thread for our movie. Just a thought.

Well, currently I am working in the lingerie department of a department store (Herberger's). But at the end of the month I am quitting to be able to concentrate full time on school.
I go to college and currently study vocal performance. Although lately I've been pondering if it's really what I want to do....
