This is actually my husbands favorite Rickman movie. Try to figure that one out! We watch this one every Chritmas time along with all of our other Christmas movies . My preferred ending, of course, is that he did not actually cheat on his wife ;D. Go figure right? I guess I just like happy endings . Ironically, so far that is my husband's favorite Rickman movie also (aside from HP). And I agree with you, my take on that part was that Harry was thinking about the affair, may have been gearing up for it, gave her the gift but hadn't done anything about it yet. I prefer to think of it that way. I did think the scene with Emma and the CD was a painful one. Not just because of her emotional pain but because here is her husband, either entering into an affair or already in it, and yet acting like there is nothing wrong or going on. So I found the whole thing sorta hard to see and one reason I'd like to think that he was acting like the loving husband was because nothing had happened yet. I was also thrilled that they resolve it by trying to work it out at the end.

I usually don't like romantic comedies and this film was something of this sort. It was watcheable, though. Alan was great as usual. I-like you- wanted him to stay with his wife. When he was trying to buy the jewellery, I was all: "What are you doing, man??? This girl isn't worth risking all your family life! Your family life is what counts the most and is far more important than the young body!" (the girl who was trying to drag him to bed really got on my nerves; she was vulgar). When he betrayed his wife, I was sooo disappointed. Alan played the only one from the film who behaved very bad. I felt sorry for his wife and felt angry with him, being so stupid to ruin everything just because he's bored, living with his wife for many years. My husband, who was watching the film with me, was angry with him too He prefers Alan in films such as "Rasputin" or "HP", but he liked how Alan acted in the movie.

I can't believe its two years since this movie came out! two years! Blimey o'reilly, doesn't time fly when you're in Alan-land! As for Harry, I think he realised what a fool he'd made (wasn't it "I've been a classic fool" the line he said?) and how ridiculous he was to be contemplating anything with Mia. But men are silly like that sometimes, they need a good slap (or in this case their wife to catch them!) to shake them out of it and realise they are being a doofus! (tiny bit of experience coming through in this message, but I'd like to point out I'm not the young hottie, wife or in need of a good slap )

It's sad that men often do this (not only men, though). Harry behaved like a fool but was wise enough to realise that he acted like a fool. I don't know why, but the looks of Mia always get on my nerves. Harry was even more silly to let such a girl, making so obvious remarks, win him for a moment. On the other hand, it's far better that Mia wasn't the kind of a girl to fall in love with.

I've been having an Alan fest recently and on Friday I watched Love Actually and I have made up my mind and think that he did not do it as he realized he loved his wife too much!

Less anger = more shopping = you spending more money = them getting more money! It is a great soundtrack though...

I LOVE THIS MOVIE... Expecially now around the holidays... I loved Alan in it, he was perfect for the role of Harry...I mean who wouldn't want a boss like that..LOL..
The cutest part in the movie was with the little boy and his crush on that little girl...so adorable.. And I have to add that I found Liam Neeson very sharming in this movie... And Hugh Grant of course...

And the song where the chorus is "All I want for Christmas is you" (the one which was sung by the teenage girl loved by the cute little boy) is being sung in my head atm.
By the way: occy, I can't help laughing when I look at your signature ;D

I finally saw the movie!!! It was awesome, but what a horrible git he was! Cheating on poor Emma Thompson! And he has kids! I was so angry! LOL. Anyway, the movie was great overall. And about the soundtrack... I want it! On MySpace, the Love Actually soundtrack has a music profile, and you can hear four songs from it. It's pretty cool. In fact, I added "All I Want for Christmas is You" to my profile. ;D Listen to the 4 songs at the MySpace profile: profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=38050987&a=1

I dont think he was horrible - I think he was a complete git yea - but I also think it was the characters mid life crisis.
It wasnt right I wasnt good it just was...
Id be inclined to forgive the actions...I wonder why *g*

The commentary is great, lots of little Alan-snippets from Richard and Hugh. I watched the movie the other day, well I watched the parts with Alan, Hugh and Laura Linney's characters actually. not so fussed on the other stories. Emma Thompson's character is my favourite- I can always tell a good actor when I don't laugh when they cry I'm seriously horrible, I laugh when some actors try and cry!

I think it was just a bit of a mid life crisis, a young woman taking a bit of notice of him, he probably found it flatering, he shouldn't have taken it any futher and i think his wife finding out was the reality check he needed, or who knows how far it would have gone.
Listen to me i sound like it's real life!
